Thanks, I did download the demo and it will not install on Server 2003. I also tried reinstalling the OS in a RAID 1 configuration, as opposed to the RAID 0 I tried last time. The same thing happened. There are two 250gb drives in the array. Disk management reports the C partition as being 231.8gb, which would be correct (this being the "DM disk view in disk management). The properties of the C drive as reported by Windows Explorer shows the capacity as 5gb and I cannot use any of the rest of the space (226 or so GB). I found the drivers for the Dell 5ir controller on the support.dell.com site. I installed them with no difference. I could not find the ISO image of the latest Dell setup disk. After identifying it as a SC440 and a 5IR controller I don't see any links to disk images. I was thinking of installing the drivers onto a floppy and hitting F6 after booting from the Windows disk. How can I set up the drivers on the floppy or can I just copy the .exe files onto the floppy? Thanks for all of your suggestions. importing public self signed certificates via GPO

Hello, This might be a simple question, but googling hasn't revealed the answer. I've got a web server that uses ssl to protect areas. This ssl is enabled by a self signed certificate that i issued from my own CA. I can manually import the CA's public certificate in to each machine then each system will trust the site and not pop up a warning dialog box about an untrusted cert. What i was wondering is if it would be possible for a GPO to be able to distribute the public cert to all domain computers. Thanks. Dave.

upgrading from vmware server2 to workstation

I'm thinking of giving vmware workstation a try because I've heard that jaws works well in a virtual machine if you have vmware workstation. I currently use the free product, server2. Jaws does not work well with a Windows virtual machine created with server2. Specifically, the jaws cursor doesn't work. I believe that's because the video intercept driver won't install. Anyway, here are my questions: 1. Has anyone used jaws in a virtual machine in vmware workstation? Does the jaws cursor work? 2. I believe I need to have either fedora or Red Hat, not debian, on my machine to use vmware workstation. Is that correct? 3. Can I backup my server2 virtual machines and then restore them after I've upgraded to workstation?

grml or vinux and disk imaging

Hello, Does anyone have a remastered Vinux or Grml live CD with software speech and a disk imaging program? Currently i do not have the ability to make one as my machines with Linux are not here. I'm looking for a replacement for Ghost, i need to take the contents of an ntfs partition, it's xp pro, and image it to a larger hard disk. I would have both drives connected master and slave and do it directly from the live CD. If anyone has an iso i'd appreciate it. Thanks. Dave. Outlook 2003 deleting inbox headers

Hello, Got a problem of some urgency! I'm hoping some of you running networks will have seen this or know where to look. I'm running outlook 2003 and it is connecting to a gmail account over encrypted imap4. I'm not sure if the problem is gmail's imap4 or outlook 2003, though from what i just saw i'm leaning more toward the outlook. I googled this last time this issue occurred and didn't come up with anything, i'm hoping for some assistance. A while back i was reading email and then without doing anything an outlook dialog came up stating it was deleting messages in my inbox. I want to stress i did not tell it to do so nor did i at that time nor do i now have a virus. I stopped it then. Now about five minutes ago i was going through email, and i selected several messages, right clicked and chose delete. Well, it did, but also removed everything else from the inbox, I went from 400 something msgs to a clean inbox, and while some might say this is great i am not a happy camper on this! I need to know if there's anything on this autopurge thing. If i check in the all-mail archive i've got the messages there, so i haven't lost anything just the headers are gone, but the all-messages archive has like 54000 plus msgs in it and searching it is a pain. I've checked gmail's web interface and like the outlook inbox it is also empty, but the all-mail is still have messages. Any help appreciated. I am hoping i will not have to look for a new mail program. If i do, as this problem is the second time i've seen it any recommendations? I need something that's screen reader friendly, will do what outlook 2003 does but without the issue. Thanks a lot. Dave.

How do folks diagram?

Hi all. So nice to see some action on this list. I'm wondering how folks deal with visio diagrams especially creating these diagrams. I'm a network engineer and frequently asked to build complex diagrams of different environments. Up until now I've been paying a graphic designer to turn text detailed descriptions in to visio documents but wondering if that's the only solution. How are you all creating these? Also, how do you read them simply have a coworker or friend virbalize the diagram or is there a trick? I'm starting a new gig next week and have a feeling a lot of this will come up quickly. accessible live CD's

Hello, I'm looking for either a pre-made or a howto on how to compile a live CD Linux distribution unimportant so i can drop it in a computer, boot, and have speech, for diagnostic purposes, hardware analysis, and also to have access to custom software such as a system imaging util. Anyone know of something similar? I'm looking for something to replace ghost and it's ghostcast server for the imaging part and something that will talk when a windows machine won't boot so i can troubleshoot it. Thanks. Dave. I am using a USB soundcard for the moment on the one I am using regularly. what sound card do people use with their servers that is a reliable driver signed card that will not break the bank? any help would be appreciated. Hi, Appologies for the cross posting, I am a helpdesk analyst, using jaws version 10, supporting a number of users in an Airline. In my work, I am using many different applications. However, as a jaws user, there are some that are restricting me from offering the kind of support that I need to provide. We use an application called active directory, to unlock user accounts, and change passwords on a regular basis. My understanding is that, jaws is sitting on my c drive on my pc, and the application is sitting on a server. So, when I load up active directory, I get no speech from jaws. I will shortly be using an application called ConsoleOne, to change citrix passwords for users, and the same rules apply. Jaws is on my c drive, and the application is on the server. I have remote desktop for jaws, on my jaws licence. Do I need to have jaws loaded on each server that I am trying to access through terminal services? Or is it possible for me to do this at all. Appologies for the long mail, all help would be appreciated. Hi, There are multiple approaches to this: You do need to have JFW installed on the servers you are going to use it on with the Remote Desktop feature, but there are ways of making this more appealing to the IT staff. In ActiveDirectory, you can install the remote administration kit, which installs all AD tools onto your local machine. You then need to be assigned the correct permissions in AD, but we do this all the time for the helpdesk guys, to allow them to change passwords etc. This is actually far more secure than allowing connections to a server. Not sure about the Citrix part, but if you do need to install JFW onto the servers, I would advise installing it onto maybe one or two machines, which have access to ActiveDirectory and Citrix remote consoles. In my work, I am using many different applications. However, as a jaws user, there are some that are restricting me from offering the kind of support that I need to provide. We use an application called active directory, to unlock user accounts, and change passwords on a regular basis. My understanding is that, jaws is sitting on my c drive on my pc, and the application is sitting on a server. So, when I load up active directory, I get no speech from jaws. I will shortly be using an application called ConsoleOne, to change citrix passwords for users, and the same rules apply. Jaws is on my c drive, and the application is on the server. I have remote desktop for jaws, on my jaws licence. Do I need to have jaws loaded on each server that I am trying to access through terminal services? Or is it possible for me to do this at all. xp reading a ufs2-formatted drive?
