I have created two Facebook groups. the first is Tech Makers. My objective with this group is to provide a convenient medium for people who are technology creators to discuss relevant topics and get feedback from peers. I hope that anyone who is interested in collaborating about tech topics will join and add others who might be interested in participating. The other group is Project Connect. the goal for this group is to provide a convenient medium for developers, admins, and others to discuss and share ideas about their projects. Sometimes, you have a project you are excited about, but you don't know how to get others on board with it. Other times, you might want some side project to work on, but you're not sure of what things other people are doing. BackToBasics: desktop support feedback?

Hello there everybody. Firstly, I would like to thank you in advance, should you feel obligated to reply to my message. I know it has absolutely nothing to do with system administration, however, since you guys have climbed up the ladder and do what I can only dream of, I thought I'd try asking for your help as you reflect on those days. I've been given an opportunity to be able to work for a company for 2 months. I believe they will place me in desktop support. The screenreader I will be using is Dolphin Supernova. My primary screenreader is jaws, which I know many people use, but that's a story I cannot talk to the company about just yet. I have completed my A+, and do believe that should help me in some ways, but I'd like to know in a corporate environment, just what can and cannot be done regarding desktop support from a visually impaired perspective . My concern is mainly the areas which are inaccessible such as the bios, and remote support, making the assumption that they don't allow any screenreader installed on their pc's. With regard to the hardware side of things, could you also please offer some tips if possible? I have been repairing pc's for customers in the past, but it was not on a formal level at all hence my message. Hi all, Can anyone speak on whether the supposed integration of Narrator with the installation/setup/PE process will also extend to server operating systems? Nothing about said integration was mentioned in the blog post, though you would think that something could be done about it ... if one side of an interface is accessible, then all sides of it ought to be.

Update on Finding an Intruder

Still haven't found it, but I do have more informatioin on the hardware on the network there. The cable modem is an ancient Scientific Atlanta (now Cisco) DPC2100. The copyright on the manual is 2003, so it's got to be old. I'm thinking of having it replaced with an ARRIS SB6141. Does anyone know anything about this one, such as, can it be re-flashed with third-party firmware? The router is another oldie, the Linksys E2500. The Wireshark output is just horrendous. I'm still trying to process it all.

hello dears please, I've old hard disk, I need to fully format it, and repartition it. which accessible tool should use in this task from windows os? it will be better if it could run portable to access it throw win7_pe-talking. I did this task from some years, for this not remember good, system partition should be primary, and data once logical? thanks very much.

I have a friend with a big problem. Something is eating his network alive. Could be a computer, could be the modem, in which case a re-flash of firmware will fix it. All his computers are virus- and badware-free, according to up-to-date installations of antivirus and all kinds of anti-badware softwares. Meantime, I thought I'd see what Wireshark is like with a screenreader, test it locally, get my friend to install it, Tandem into that machine, run it, and see what's what. FORGETABOUTIT! Using the JAWS cursor doesn't do much, not even with the OCR feature. There are some tabbable dialogs, or screens that act like they're dialogs, but to kick the thing started, I just cannot seem to get it to start listening and collecting packets and doing its thing with them. I remember using this tool way back when it was EtherNim and thought it was pretty accessible. But that was more than a decade-and-a-half ago, and times (and obviously software) have changed. Anyone got any accessibility hacks for Wireshark, or can recommend another tool that runs on anything--Windows, OS X, some Linux--heck, I'd even run it on a Raspberry Pi if it's accessible!!--that will do the same thing? Thanks in advance.

accessible PBX?

Hello Everyone. I've spent the weekend tearing my hair out with free PBX. For some reason, I can't seem to get my dial plans right or to be able to make outgoing calls, probably because of the way I've entered something in the interface. Does anyone have any idea which system I could use as an alternative? I want something that's easy to administer, that isn't going to take hours and hours to set up and that essentially works without too much head scratching to work out where you've gone wrong, editing endless config files etc. If it could run on a raspberry Pi, all the better as I have a few lying around.
