The semi-defunct International Association Of Visually Impaired Techcnologists was working with VMWare on accessibility at one time. VMWare itself was very supportive. They gave us $10,000 and a couple of VMWare ESXI licenses to use on a test platform. That project fell apart for several reasons. One of the biggest was lack of interest from blind VMWare admins. But that might have been due in part to the way our contact at VMWare kind of took over the project. He clearly meant well but he seemed to feel it was his project. When you donate money, you can't dictate how it is spent. It's both illegal and unethical. I think if I had it to do over again, I wouldn't accept the money. I don't know -- a non-profit turning down $10K? You can't do that. Another thing I could have done is to go over the guy's head. I didn't want to get him in trouble though. PS: I am calling IAVIT semi-defunct because the board alredy voted to dissolve it. It hasn't happened yet because some people emailed me asking if it could be saved. Ryan, I assume it's the latest version of ESXI. Truthfully, I just found that we're embarking down this path, so I have some learning ahead. I have not previously used this product. There is a separate team with VMWare expertise that can answer questions not having to do with accessibility, and I should be able to trade off any truly inaccessible tasks within my team. Of course I'd like to minimize the need for this, so I'll be taking a look at PowerCLI. Hi All, I am just wondering why we as visually impaired individuals haven't gotten these companies to do the simple things. I finally had to drop PRTG for similar reasons. I am getting very frustrate with these software vendors that make Admin products not accessible. I am wondering if we should start a public shaming or something. Not really sure at this point. Hello Ryan, I'm running HPE Customized Image ESXi 6.0.0 Update 3 version 600.9.7.0.17, it was released on February 2017 and based on ESXi 6.0.0 Update 3 Vmkernel Release Build 5050593 I agree your ideas, Currently above version working here and I'm managing my 6 virtual machines with client right now. Hello all, I'd appreciate any information on accessible administration of VMware ESXi servers. Creating and destroying VMs, monitoring status, etc. I understand that accessing VM consoles is probably not accessible. The ESXi VPAT suggests that the HTML5 client is not accessible, so I'm hoping that someone has found an alternative. 3D printing a floor plan

I am helping to organize a convention where many of the attendees will be blind. I was hoping to get a 3D map of the hotel made. The first estimate I get was for over $3,000. I got a copy of the floor plan of the hotel from the hotel itself. It is in a PDF document. I was thinking that if I could just find some cheap way to print it as raised lines, I could add braille labels myself. Accessible multimeter

Hello, A little while back maybe early last year or so there was talk about an accessible multimeter. I now have the need to get one and by the end of today the means to do so. My primary use for this device as of now, although this might expand, in the future, is as a computer power supply tester, a PSU. I lost one for sure last week and have doubts about the reliability and functionality of another, and i've got two others I have no clue on. If anyone has any recommendations i'd appreciate knowing about them. Also, I am by no means an electricity guru so if those with experience could talk things with me I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Dave.

turning off secure boot and UEFI

Hello, I've had to do a new win10 install and somehow I must have cleared my bios settings, had also to replace a power supply. The first clue came after the machine was booted up again and wouldn't boot off of any USB drive, so I checked system information, UEFI was back on as was secure boot. I do not remember how I turned this off as I just did it once and forgot about it. I do not like UEFI nor secure boot, although I understand the purpose i'd rather be able to set my machine to boot off an inserted USB thumb drive. The motherboard is an Asus m5a97 and the bios is an american megatrends. Suggestions welcome. Thanks. Dave.

win10 and booting via USB drive with accessible repair

Hello, I just did a new win10 1803 install 64 bit on a machine. I found something i've never seen before and am wondering considering I am now unable to duplicate the action. I've got the secure boot in my uefi set to disabled and I created a thumb drive using win10 media creation utility. This went fine. At first the system would just go in to windows without booting off the thumb drive, I tried several USB ports, one would boot off the thumb drive then on a subsequent boot not do so then another would, now none will. Ok, so I assumed on the times it wasn't booting off the thumb drive that it wasn't working. Somehow and this is what i'd like to do again, I got to what is presumably the recovery screen, it has things like continue (boot hard drive), repair advanced options and usb uefi drive boot. How I know this is I hit narrator's keys thinking it had booted off the thumb drive and narrator actually read out this recovery screen. I'd like to get back to this screen. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Thanks. Dave.
