Nay one sighted and able to remote into my machine. Using vm ware player and need to turn on audio for four vms, using windows server 2012 for an assignment. My main trainer is on vacation now. And need to get this assignment done this week. Can any one help who is sighted. Just need the audio on for this. Have tried command prompt and have researched. But no way to turn it on. Can any one help. Or is there a script or another way, maybe via power shell. Do have a power shell script and sets the audio services for my host machine, not the guest vms. Any help. Tearing my hair out. Thanks.

Hi. How do you turn on audio services, when you are blind. And have tried command prompts but not turned it on. So do you then need some one to remote in and turn it on. This is for windows server 2012 r2, and 2019. Any ideas. Thanks.

Okay, main issue. Do understand about windows server and learnt and watched a ton of videos. My issue, not able to get the audio turned on. And is disabled by default. That's the major issue. How do I do that. Tried the commands but not working in vm ware workstation player. So that's the issue. How to do that without sighted help. Any one got around this issue. Thanks.

Hi. Can ryan contact me off list. I just read his blog about his journey to Microsoft. Will schm or any accessible help me with my issue. Don't have head set, just speakers, when I launch a windows 2012 , 2016, 2019. No audio. Just hear caps lock on and off when I go to then host audio with my real tech speakers, so hear that, but windows narrator does not come on. Will window-eyes help me out. Or is there any scripts, did try the Sc config audiosrv start= auto and it does not turn audio on. So have tried that. Did try Dev Man View, but did enable audio and did save it as the same name for my speakers. So is there any way to turn on audio, except having to have sighted help. Has ryan ever ran into this issue. Running windows 10 2009 pro. Got 8 gb ram, and allocating 4 gb for vms, for my networking course. Had to get sighted help to do a whole bunch of vms, for windows 2019 , and this was my trainers versions and he gave me the keys for this. And now using windows server 2012 r2, and running into the same issue. If I go with my default audio. Windows narrator does not come on. Just got a standard ear bud heaphones. Don't have a head set. Any ideas. Have tried googling and trying a whole bunch of things, and don't want to have to rely on sighted help all the time. Have contacted enterprise disability and in Australia and waiting for a reply have tried to do things and get it to work. So any scripts. Think the last version of window eyes works with windows 10. But not sure, maybe 2004. Got 20 h 2 or 2009. And got a intel I 7 3 2.3 quad core or duel core up to 6 cores ghz processor, 500 gb solid state drive and a Samsung 2 inch solid state drive external drive 512 gb. So any ideas. This is stupid. Either a oversight with accessibility for Microsoft or they have deleiberatley done this so not to have extra resources. Any ideas and please be civil, no snide reamrks or be sarcastic. Have been polite to you guys. And have not rambed. Just explained my situation as best as possible. This is stupid. Know how to install windows 10 without sighted help and able to run windows narrator. Cannot do this in server. So, will the scm or a terminal by pass this. Any ideas. Do have putty. Marvin..

Hi. Is there a batch file to turn it on inside vm ware player. This is stupid. Did get the Net Start AudioEndpointBuilder and got beeps. But narrator would not turn on then tried net start audiosrv. But would not turn on. What am I doing wrong. The vm ware tools in the vm, would not install. Any ideas. Frustrating. Just want to turn on the audio. Or do I need sighted help. Hi no have not used it yet. Maybe may need to use that in my next networking course. Just using the gui windows server and server manager with nvda and windows narrator. Don't have a jaws remote licence but will purchase one next year. Thanks.

Hi totally blind using jaws, nvda, windows narrator. Able to do this in vm ware player, able to get narrator on the initial install screen. But when it reboots, no audio, and did try the Sc.config audiosrv start= auto. Does not turn it on. So is there a script or a way to turn on audio, when you are blind. Have you done that with windows server 2012 r2, 2016, 2019, and have you played with the insider version of server 2020, and if so, have they addressed this issue, some way to detect when a screen reader is running, then enable audio. So annoying. Marvin.

Hi everyone: I wanted to throw a question out to those of you who regularly work with Windows servers. When setting up a new server, do you go for server core or the full desktop experience? Are your reasons accessibility based at all, AKA would you use server core more if you could run a screen reader directly on the server, even built in AT such as Narrator? If you need to use servers running Server Core in your job, how do you do so today and what are your concerns around this method? Is remote access through tools like Powershell, server manager, Windows Admin center enough for day to day use or is not having normal console access an issue? Do you use Emergency Management Services<https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/administration/windows-comm…> to get serial console access or is that approach you’d take if you needed it? Unfortunately, Hyper-V on the desktop still presents some challenges. Namely at this point, there is no audio passthrough during the initial install phase so getting an OS up and running is still a challenge. I recommend sticking with Workstation for the immediate future. Thanks. Hello, I probably know the answer to this before I even ask it. Bu ton the off chance something changed in the past year, How is Jaws with VMware workstation? Specifically, while using a laptop, am I going to be able to pass through the capslock, insert and control keys to the guest VM? Or every time I press the caps lock key, is the local running instance of Jaws going to tell me the capslock is enabled? Thanks

Hi, Has anyone tried a software KVM for using the same keyboard and mouse on 2 machines with the host and client machines both using JFW? My company have blocked using personal devices from connecting to some services so I need to use my laptop for all work stuff from now on. I want to use the keyboard and mouse from my desktop on the laptop so I don't have to keep switching keyboards, but worried about JFW issues using it this way. Anyone tried this? Thanks. Andrew.

Office 365 scripts or plugins

Hi everyone, Work is bringing me back to windows after 12 years or so on Linux, and it is a process just as painful as it was to move in the other direction, so far. There are some nice surprises, such as improvements to the accessibility of Office. One desktop application on Office 365 which is still giving me trouble, is Teams. It seems as difficult with Jaws as it is with NVDA, so I am wondering if anybody has scripts or plugins to recommend, as I am starting to suspect that the problem might be between the keyboard and the chair! Lastpass.

Hello, Is anyone using Lastpass? I find the web UI to be really clunky. Also adding new items is not accessible as the drop downs aren't accessible to me. There are chrome plugins but these just dump you back to the web UI after logging in. Hi. Have my windows server orientation set to landscape. Cannot seem to change to portrait. Got windows server 2019 essentials data centre, 1809. And went into system, display. And it only tells me landscape. So no way to change to portrait. Thanks.

Thanks Andrew, I think that's what I will go with for those exact reasons. I did some tests last night with a fake account and it worked just as I expected. I agree I've heard of tenants getting really messy and people loosing track of all the external users and just what they have access to, but you're right in my case I don't have that many and can keep an eye on it. Microsoft Planner and guests

Hello all: I was looking for some advice on how to proceed from some other admins who work with Office 365, I have two approaches I can take to this and was wondering which people thought was best. I’m working on a personal project with some people who do not have accounts in my Office 365 tenant, and their organization does not use Office 365 at all. . I want to start using Planner to track the tasks in this project, as I’m starting to see we need some task tracking to keep people on the same page. I’ll need to bring these people into Planner as guests, and I’m finding two ways to do that and was wondering which people who had done this seem to think was better. 1. got my vms and audio up and running

Hi. Was able to set up my three vms in vm ware player. And then got the audio to work. And then installed nvda, windows server, did updates, set up the icons I wanted. Then change the computer names of all three vms. And now. Do I need to go in and manually change the ip 4 address. Need all three vms on the same network. So how do I do this. What do you do if you want a few servers or vms on the same network. How do you go about this. Will be researching this. Thanks.

using hyper v issues

Hi. Have two issues using hyper v with narrator. When creating a vm, and then installing windows server 2019. Have not tried it with 2016. Narrator does not turn on, just hear caps lock on and off. And nvda does not turn on either. Also tried the audio end point builder and audio srv inside a vm, in windows server. Does not come on. Wish there was a way for narrator to detect if the client talk back to the server. Did try vm ware player, able to use the windows 10 talking installer. Did read the install screens for windows server 2019 essentials. But when it rebooted, no speech, and just the vm ware window. So no good. And virtual box kept chrashing when I tried to use it. So hyper v is built into windows 10 pro which I have. So for the most part it is accessible with jaws, nvda. So, any one got any scripts, work arounds, or how they get around it. Having to wait for sighted people to remote in to my machine, and then having to do this. Would like to set it up without sighted help. Microsoft has a gap in this space. Did give feedback on the user voice and also feeback hub if Microsoft reads my feedback. Unless you can direct me where I could contact the narrator accessibility team and also the windows server accessibility. Frustrated. Got 3 weeks to do two last practical assignments. And stressing out. Then every oen goes on vacation for a few weeks. Got till January 9 to complete my current course. If any one has had issues, being totally blind, how did they get speech, under hyper v virtual machine. Don't have access to a dedicated server. Remote connection manager, worked some times and connected, then would not do that. So just used the hyper v connection I had. And then when getting out of one of my vms, if I do a shutdown, does not go back to the host, totally chrashes my speech. If I disconnect, still get speech which is weird. Any ideas. Just frustrated Able to use nvda as don't have a jaws remote licence, going to purchase a jaws remote licence in 2021. Will beenrolling in the diploma of networking from http://www.upskilled.edu.au. Only blind student there online.. Marvin.

hyper v and audio

Hi. Found the commands to turn on audio end point builder and the audio srv service. But noticed on trying to connect to a third domain, and only got two server running, ahd to turn the third server off, only got 8 gb ram, do have another 8 gb slot free on my vivo book laptop. Notice some times, even though got windows narrator and nvda set on, some times it does not speak, and just says caps lock on and off. Then it will then say the password field after the fourth or fifth reboot. Any ideas why. Using windows 10 pro 64 bit 2009. Thanks. Ps: intel I 7 32.3 or 2.4. ghz quad or dual core pro, up to 6 cores, 8 gb ram, 512 gb ssd. Marvin.

lost my audio on one server

Hi. Was using windows server 2019, and on a second server, using windows narrator and nvda. Don't have a jaws remote licence. Now, did a domain controller and the wizard worked on server manager. Did a sign out and reboot. Would not give any speech when it rebooted. Just said input capture caps lock on and off. Then did a hard reboot. Then it said some thing about check points. Thought they were meaning reset or revert checkpoints. Did not realise. Clicked on continue, then reverted back to having the audio and not automatic. So have to wait till Monday for my trainer to set up the audio services again. Pity there's no script or setting where windows server or where narrator detects you have a server running, then gives audio back from the client to the server. And also no speech when doing a reboot, for a domain controller and any other tasks, that needs a reboot. Any one encountered this issue. Cannot use be my eyes or aira, as don't have a ios or android device. Only windows laptop. Any one , tried searching for a script or a power shell command. To run that you have to be in the server, then run it. Did try net start audiosv but did not work. Any work arounds. Annoying. If need to create servers in the future, no keyboard short cut, unless have then to memorise which is a pain. Marvin.r

JAWS 2021 is acting up in outlook and word on HP Z 240 SFF workstation.

I can't figure out for the life of me what is the problem. Jaws just won't read some emails with tables and acts really strange with word when typing. It almost goes to some sort of mode like a learning mode or some functions mode. My temp fix is to enable "game mode" with windows key plus G and then turn off game mode. It fixes it for a little bit and then it gets back to the strange behavior. I have noticed it mostly happens with word and outlook. I already updated my work PC to the latest updates. Reinstalled graphics drivers uninstalled all versions of JAWS and fresh new install of 2021 and it still gives me hard time. The HP Z 240 SFF has Intel 630 graphics. My other office has Z230 SFF with NVIDEA graphics card and everything is good. Any ideas why I would get such behavior and what else I can try? I was thinking to clean re-install office 365 but don't want to spend time reconfiguring all the settings, inboxes etc.
