Thanks, that is one question I forgot to ask the pair of eyes I borrowed so I don't know the version of the Dell install utility. I am sure it is not current. Is there a download link for the latest version of the SAS installer? In either Disk manager or Diskpart.exe the size of the drive is reported at around 470GB, all allocated to the C partition, which is what I would expect to see. Howegver, the properties of the C drive as reported in Windows Explorer show the C drive with only a capacity of 5gb! I tried converting from Basic to Dynamic with no change. When trying to install anything I get an out of disk space error since it is only recognizing the first 5gb of the C partition. Does anyone have any ideas on what to go so that Windows 2003 will see the entire size of the C partition? It'll batch the process and reboot to perform it and then auto reboot back into Windows once complete. Hi, Actually there are many different controllers that Dell put into their servers, depending on what you wanted at the time. It is possible that you could disable this in the BIOS, even with the add-on controller, by changing the disk mode from RAID to SATA, though I have tended to only do this with higher end Poweredge models. On another tack, why are you trying to get rid of the RAID? Thanks. Hi, Actually there are many different controllers that Dell put into their servers, depending on what you wanted at the time. It is possible that you could disable this in the BIOS, even with the add-on controller, by changing the disk mode from RAID to SATA, though I have tended to only do this with higher end Poweredge models. On another tack, why are you trying to get rid of the RAID? Thanks. Hi all we have a Dell Poweredge SC440 which currently has a factory RAID controller with two 250gb drives in a RAID 0 configuration. We would like to eliminate the RAID configuration and boot from a SATA hard disk. What is involved in this? Is it as simple as removing the RAID controller and installing a SATA controller and attaching it to a SATA hard disk? Are there any changes to the BIOS that must be made? Thanks Frank

Hello All, Background to my enquiry I am attempting to setup a small home network comprising 4 PCs. Three of these PCs are running W XP professional, the fourth machine is running W Server 2003 with SP2. When attempting to update the server from Microsoft Windows update site, I receive error number 0x8024402C. I am considering installing WindowsServer2003-KB914961-SP2-x86, but I am not sure how to verify that it has not already been installed. I have looked under control panel add-remove programs, it does not appear there. Is there a more certain way to check whether or not this patch is already installed? Has anyone else installed this patch and have there been any adverse outcomes? Any thoughts would be very much appreciated. Thank you and regards, Stewart.

Kernel.org never supported speakup. Well, it might now but that's fairly recent. Knoppix and grml used to install the speakup patches you could download from linux-speakup.org -- same as anyone else bulding a custom speakup kernel. That was a nice thing they did. They may still be doing that. I've been trying to rescue a machine by booting from a grml CD the entire time we've been discussing this. I've been taking time out from that job to answer your questions. But I have a hardware synth. And I'm not sure what version of grml I'm using. Anyway, it's not that hard. cross forest and child domain dfs

Hello, Has anyone set up dfs? I've got a 2003 setup with cross forest two way trusts with other domains setup as well as a child domain. Partner dc's in the same forest will work with dfs, i'd like to get the child domain as well as a trusted partner domain domain-b to work with dfs. Vista 64 bit vpn to 2003

Hi everyone, One of my staff bought her own laptop and came in with it for me to setup on our network. Wel because she went and got Vista home premium, I informed her that she can use RDP but can't connect to our domain. I then also noticed that I couldn't get a VPN connection to our 2003 server. She's got the 64 bit version of Vista. Is this likely to be the reason a VPN connection is failing on our 2003 server? Thanks.

2003 rras and ping

Hello, I'm trying to get a few 2003 servers to be able to ping each other. Their network interfaces are set to public connected to the internet as this is in a test environment. Additionally, under the ICMP settings tab i check incoming echo request, outgoing source quench, and outgoing destination unreachable, the checked status does not appear to be holding between restarts of rras. jaws9 and remote desktop

Hello, Is anyone using jaws9 with remote desktop? I just discovered that the ability is available and want to get up to speed with it. I've tried to connect to a virtual machine via remote desktop, but performance was not so good. I had several issues, one of which was that it seemed as if both jaws's host and vm appeared to be active and atempting to speak. Another item was that entering keyboard commands on the remote desktop computer for example the start menu activated the start menu on the host. I also noticed a speech component on the host machine called remote speech, if anyone has all this working i'm interested in knowing the procedure. Thanks. Dave.

accessible LiveCD or LFS with Windows/Linux diagnostics

Hello, Has anyone got a Linux From Scratch CD working with speech and added in custom apps? I've got one working with speech, but it was a modification of the existing LiveCD and doesn't have any additional applications. My goal is to have a disk that i can drop in to a machine, and boot and it will detect sound card and enable me to run diagnostics, most immediately being memtest86. Thanks. Dave.

accessible standalone computer imaging program?

Hello, My recent experience with my laptop has shown that i am in need of an accessible flexible imaging solution. I tried ghost specifically 2007, but since they moved to a CD system as opposed to the old floppies which i could batch script that wasn't workable without sighted assistance. And when i got it ghost wouldn't see the USB external hard disk, i'm not sure but i think that reason was due to the fact that it was a 500 gb hd and formatted ntfs, i'd like for this to be doable. yet another vmware question

I have a Windows PC that I pretty much use only as a Windows terminal. I mean, I do web browsing, read email, and use ssh. But all my real work is done on a linux box. I was thinking of combining the 2 machines by installing vmware server and then running Windows as a virtual machine. I was thinking that then I'd ssh from the virtual machine to the real machine to do my work. Is the fre vmware product vmware server good enough? Do I need to pay for vmware workstation?
