Hi all, Part of my job requires me to remotely access machines to provide support. The only solution I'm finding is to install the jaws demo on all of the computers on the network, and purchase the remote access addon for my license. Is that the best option? If so is there a good way to deploy jaws to all of the machines? Ideally we would not even want the users to know that jaws is installed so they do not accidentally activate it. Thank you, Mike

VMware: Which virtual machine is on which host?

I have been a backup VMWare admin for a few years. Actually, I'm third in line so maybe I'm the backup of a backup. Anyway, I've been tasked with shutting down our VMWare cluster. We're moving some virtual machines to a centralized VMWare cluster on campus. But others we are just going to recreate on the hosts we are currently using for our VMWare cluster. We have 4 hosts in our cluster. I need to shift some VMs around so I can take a host out of the cluster. Then I am going to install Linux on the host and recreate the virtual machine on the new Linux host. The goal would be to get to just one host with one virtual machine, the vcenter server. At that point we could just turn it off. I know how to migrate a VM to another host but what I don't know is how to figure out where to move it. Is there a way to show which VMs are running on which host in the VSphere client? Can I get a report of how burdened a host is? How to install CentOS on VMware ESXI?

Hello, I used Proxmox until today and now moving to esxi host. How can I install a CentOS7 to VM? VM is created but how can I answer CentoS installation questions like license agreement, network, partitioning etc? I've created an answer file for Proxmox in the past but it is not working for VMware. Thanks for your recommendations.

Hi Caroline: I have seen this before, but there could be several causes. A few things to think about: 1. Is the Skype for Business server on prem or in O365? 2. What is the connection like between the client machine in question and the server? 3. If the user goes ahead and IMs or calls one of these presents unknown contacts, does the IM or call go through normally? 4. Does the Skype Outlook addin show the correct presents information when the user tries to email the person or in the user’s Outlook contacts folder? 5. Are these contacts in the same domain or is there federation going on? Generally when I see this it means that there’s either a lag between the client machine updating the presents status from the SFB server or there’s a problem with federation between two orgs in an onprem situation. As I said though there could be several causes here so these are just some things to think about when starting to look and you may have already ruled these all out. Hi, We are experiencing a strange situation with Skype For Business. A few of our users are reporting that when they search for certain colleagues, they are found in the Skype address book but they are showing as presence unknown. When others search for the same people, their presence is reported correctly. We have tried the following for a user who is being presented with the presence unknown problem: Copying over a cached address book to the affected machine by replacing the GALContacts files in C:\users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Lync\sip_<user>; Removing all the files from the sip_<user> folder and allowing Skype to re-create them; Removing any contacts from the user's Skype favourites list for people who are being reported as presence unknown; Removing any contacts from the user's mailbox for people who are being reported as presence unknown. Wireshark with NVDA: connecting remotly to a virtual machine

Greetings; I hope you all are ok and safe from this Corona! Lastly, I'm in need to use Wireshark very often and, I conffess, I don't get used to yet. Although it is usable and have a lot of hotkeys, I found few information about them. Anyway, on Windows, with NVDA, I'm doing a relatively good work, but on Linux my tries were poor. But, most of time, I need to snif networks inside the Linux, mainly docker infraestructures. Once I can't use it on Linux, I'm trying to connect my windows Wireshark trough SSH on the Linux machine, inside a virtual machine. After tis long but necessary preamble, my questions: 1.When I connect wireshark through SSH on my Linux VM, the passoword isn't saved. That means I need to redo all the connect proccess every time I restart the capture. Do you lads know how to make the password persistent? 2.If the first possibility isn't possible, could someone to have another solution to that? I had tried to redirect the trafic of every interface to a host-only interface using IPTables, but got no good result: besides a lot of trash, the important packets aren't coming. 3.Last but not least, do you all have any tip, material or information about using wireshark mainly through NVDA that you can share? Filling in a pDF form

I am looking for a recommendation on the best way to fill out a PDF form. I'm a Linux guy and what I usually do when I get a PDF document is to convert it to plain text. But I have this form I have to fill out and send back. I have access to Linux, Windows, Mac, and IOS. setting USB first in bcd boot order

Hello, I've got an asus Motherboard with UEFI. It's set to UEFI boot mode and I've disabled secure boot. I'm trying to get it to boot a Linux thumb drive and having no success. If I put in a windows talking PE and boot, pressing f8 (the key on my motherboard to bring up the UEFI boot menu), then when the menu comes up, down arrow three times, the windows PE loads and it will start talking. This was created with Rufus. If I try a Linux-created thumb drive, in this case Debian10 live, for example purposes, I put it in, f8, down arrow three times, enter, and nothing, no boot beep, no drum sound, nothing. What i'd like to do is set USB to be first in the f8 UEFI boot menu, I believe this requires altering the bcd. Can anyone confirm this and if so do you have a procedure? The ideal outcome is I put in any bootable thumb drive and start the system and it boots it. If there's no bootable thumb drive in the system the system goes to the second choice, win10. Thanks. Microsoft Teams reading messages from webhook

Hi guys, Trying to re-write some chat bots to work with Teams instead of Slack. I am using the simple incoming webhook with a standard json text payload. I can't seem to read the messages using the arrow keys with JFW. If I use arrow keys and press enter it does go into the message in order for me to reply, but it won't read the contents. I have managed to get JFW to announce that I am interacting with a card message, but never read the message out. Anyone else seen this? Thanks. Andrew.

how to use the win 10 talking pe inside vmware player

Hi. Trying to use the blind windows 10 talking pe and need to install this in vm ware player. But when I create the vm, it is an exe file then downloaded any burn and then created and iso, when I try to then play the virtual machine, setup or click setup, then hear no need to install windows 10 inside vmware player as need to do this for an assignment for my networking course from http://www.upskilled.edu.au. Any one able to help. Do have uefi but not boot secure or secure boot. Maybe I do. Think I may but not sure. Can any one help me out. Why am I not getting any speech sound card is set to auto detect. Any one tried doing this in vmware or would oracle virtual box fix this. Thanks. Ps: or do I need to then use the blind help windows 10 and then try to install, and also need to capture screen shots of each screen of the process. Did have easy install, but don't want that. If I try to use the stand windows 10 2004 I don't hear any controls. How to proceed with this. Found this on carlos page. Any one able to help. Thanks.speech.

Cloud take-up (was Azure Virtual Machines and JFW)

Hi, I suspect the companies that don't move to the cloud offerings for products like Exchange will end up paying a huge premium. The minimum requirements for Exchange 2019 are huge now (120GB minimum memory I believe). For me I feel the cloud computing initiative has given me opportunities I wouldn't have had before. I could already see my career becoming fairly stale before moving to a Devops type role, mainly the fact I couldn't operate on my own in the datacentre and even though there are ways round this type of issue employers don't always want to see it. The tools and way I work now are very much usable with screen readers and are in demand by a lot of companies, though not always for the right reason. Especially now though with so many factors it is so important to have troubleshooting skills and can understand the different network layers. A typical example is a guy did a really good job writing automation to connect a bunch of VMs to a deployment server. |He couldn't work out why the deployment server wouldn't register the deployment agents, only after several days of troubleshooting was it discovered that when the vnet was set up no internal DNS servers were set up so the agent couldn't connect to the deployment server. Its key info like that which in my view is still gold no matter the platform. I do worry about IT shops ditching all their known tech for cloud alternatives which operate differently, Active Directory Domain Services being one huge example, AD offers so much in terms of authentication, account management, DNS etc, its easy to just replace it with Azure AD then realise you have lost a huge amount of internal infrastructure services that is still required, bearing in mind most businesses still use a large amount of on-prem style applications that use virtual machines, integrated Windows authentication etc. The other issue which keeps coming up is how to manage the sprawling network. Do you just ditch any idea of a network perimeter at all, or do you keep everything within a set of known IP addresses. Trying to do both usually ends up in tears. Lastly of course we have the whole communications and planning aspect. I see a lot of cloud based people like me potentially look down on infrastructure type roles or not explain fully the benefits of running systems in the way we do, which leads to conflicts between older style infrastructure and newer style cloud based roles. This can lead to really silly situations when one half of the business is trying to remove on-prem services such as AD and go cloud based, when the other half starts a major SCCM deployment. That is just one example, but I have seen it so many times now. However we will loose jobs to only big tech thus companies will be held hostage to what has already proven to be a corrupt industry. I just can't get on board with out sourcing in our industry. Look at all of the support infrastructure that's been moved from on-prem to the cloud. Azure Virtual Machines and JFW

Hi, I need to do some heavy lifting with DB migrations in a few weeks and I want to run this on a VM in Azure using JFW with RDP. I haven't done this in a while as any Windows VM stuff I run uses DSC and outputs data out elsewhere or I can just test the web services etc without logging onto the box at all. When I last did this I had trouble starting JFW on some of the VMs and when contacting Sight and Sound (UK dealer) about this they believed the issue was because of lack of video RAM on the cheaper VMs. Does anyone have any VM SKU they know JFW runs on ok? DVS Movies to trade?

I've been starting a project to rip the sound track of the old VHS tapes I have with DVS. DVS is an extra audio track where a voice describes what is happening on screen. The way I've been doing it is to connect the audio out on the VCR to the line-in on my computer (Linux). Then I use darkice to create a stream service. Then I use streamripper to rip the sound track to an mp3 file. It might seem like extra steps but I already have the darkice stream set up because I use it to listen to regular TV broadcasts. Then I also have a shell script to record a program so I can just type something like, "startRecording GameOfThrones 60" and it will rip whatever is coming in on the line-in for the next 60 minutes. Put it in a cron job and I can record any time. I am wondering if anybody else has any VHS DVS tapes they'd like to trade. I could rip them and send you the mp3 file. The 4 movies I have right now are these: 1. To Kill a Mockingbird 2. Saving Private Ryan 3. Star Trek: Wrath Of Khan 4. Star Trek: The Voyage Home -- John G. Heim, jheim(a)math.wisc.edu 608-263-4189

Azure portal shortcut pane not reading all items

Hi, Has anyone seen an issue where the Azure portal is not reading all items in the shortcut pane on the left hand side of the window? An example is going to the portal, Azure Active Directory, I want to manipulate the App Registrations node. JFW doesn't see that with a find or by arrowing, its like half the view is missing from that panel. Another example is key vaults, I can't get into the secrets or certificates node. Thanks. Andrew.

PowerShell Ise.

Hello, Looking through the archives, I notice that Caroline Ford asked a similar question three years. The PowerShell Ise application seems to have seriously considered accessibility. The text in the console is readable but a number of keyboard acrobatics must be used before this is possible. Has anyone a better way of accessing this? I'm writing something a little more complicated and having the ability to select set parts of the code and run this would be a great advantage. Currently, I'm going into the touch cursor, going into the text reading layer with numpad slash then reading the output. This works but it means that I cant route the mouse to specific text to copy it. I know I can copy from the virtual buffer of course but it's nice to be able to show people looking over my shoulder during training etc what's happening.
