I haven’t DDWRT, but it might be possible to add a second IP address to the Rueter in the range the printer is in. Alias IP address. Hello, I've factory reset my ddwrt router and configured it per request on a non-1 subnet specifically 192.168.200.0/24. In doing so I neglected to remember that my printer does not get it's IP via dhcp nor a dhcp reservation, it's statically assigned in this case my old subnet configuration of 192.168.1.200. My question is can I via a bridge or a vlan, set up ddwrt so that anyone on 200.0/24 can see the printer and when jobs are sent to it they go to that bridge/vlan and arrive at the printer for printing. Changing the printer interface is preferably not possible. Thanks. Dave.

Accessible voice and text chat clients/systems

Hello, This might not be the right list for this sort of thing, but I figured it’d be worth a shot. With Skype’s accessibility degrading on Windows and virtually disappearing on the Mac after recent updates, I’m looking for alternatives. I’m looking for a service (or collection of services used together) for realtime voice and text chat. The services must have accessible, native (i.e. not a web view) apps on Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. I am willing to consider an app with a web view if accessibility is excellent. Incoming text chat messages must be automatically read aloud for JAWS users. The following features are nice to have, in rough order of most to least important, but are not required: 1. Automatic reading of incoming text chat messages for NVDA, VoiceOver users. 2. End-to-end encryption. 3. Use of the Opus codec (or something similar) allowing for high, yet stable audio quality depending on network conditions. 4. Conference/group chat support. 5. Based on open standards (or has a public API), so if the app breaks we can find/write another. A few options I thought of: faceTime/iMessage: doesn’t work for Windows/Android/non-Apple users. Whatsapp/Signal/Slack: desktop apps are web based Discord: desktop app is web based, reports of inaccessibility on mobile Telegram: accessibility on mobile is hit and miss Google Duo/Alo: no desktop apps at all Running my own XMPP/SIP server: no XMPP clients that I know of autoread for JAWS, I am responsible for running my own servers (not in itself a bad thing but makes it harder to communicate with those not connected to my server), difficult to use for nontechnical users. Twiter direct messages: will not be realtime after streaming API is shut down, no solution for voice chat. Any ideas on other services I can investigate? Thanks in advance, Bill

Ripping DVS from a DVD

Does anybody know anything about ripping the audio descriptions (DVS) from a DVD? I am not even sure movies come with DVS. I want to listen to the "Lord Of the Rings" movies and it turns out that it is cheaper to buy the DVDs than it is to download them. If I can figure out a way to rip the aDVS track, I figure I can listen to it while my family watches the movie. They don't have to be bothered with those descriptions. -- -- John G. SDR - Software Defined radio.

Hello, I'm sorry. This is off topic but If there's a bunch of people who might be able to answer this it's you. I'm looking for a SDR, Software Defined Radio that is fully accessible. Well, as fully accessible as needed for most tasks anyway. Price range is about 3000 Euro. Don't want to go above that though. I'd like it to support 70c, 2m, 4m, and standard HF bands, 18m, 21m etc. Decent output would be reat as well. About 50w on 2m and at least 100w on HF. I primarily use windows but if the UI is more accessible in Linux that's fine too. Connection over Cat5 would be preferable. Alternatively, if you know of a SDR that's less than 3000 that could be made fully accessible to either Jaws or NVDA through scripting, I would be interested / happy to pay a scripter to do this. Hi, A few weeks ago I asked about Skype for business and thank you to all those who responded, but there has now been a change and we are moving to Slack. My immediate thoughts about it is that although it is accessible, it is not very usable. There is a lot going on and too much clutter. hexadecimal in braille?

How is hex indicated in braille? Constantly having to escape strings of digits and letters with the number and letter signs sounds super bulky. I know 8 dot braille uses dropped numbers, but that would make letters and digits harder to discern.

He is looking for someone who can work with him on a project, where they both learn together or for him to receive some mentoring in this area. He is a very quick learner and has been learning for several years, so has a good understanding of basic programming concepts. What he needs is a point in the right direction and to work with someone. He is happy to adapt to any language, but has a lot of experience in python and would like to work developing web or desktop applications. MBAM

Has anyone experience with using MBAM with SCCM? Might want to pick your brains. There's plenty of documentation out for SCCM 2012 but very little for SCCM 2016. Also the UI for the configuration wizard isn't great. Form fields don't read very nicely. Why must all these teams in Microsoft reinvent the wheel? What was wrong with edit fields? Why did they feel the need to mess with a perfectly good standard? Surely they had better things to do with their time? Then the documentation. It's not so bad I suppose. But I'm giving it a domain account. Why can't it just provision the database and then the right permissions ofr that database. Why do I need to create the accounts then create the permissions that are needed on the database before the database is created. Seems like a waste of time for me. Given that even I could run up some code that creates a database then associates a domain account with that database while giving it just the permissions it is going to need. It seems like lazy development in my opinion. Sorry. I'm ranting. I read the MS documentation on why this is going to save me problems down the line and though to myself, why not. I'll quickly add this to my SCCM server. I didn't think I was going to have so many hoops to jump through. Anyone want to chime in? I'd be interested in your experiences with MBAM. Do I have much more of this messing to look forward to? Currently waiting on yet more validation on a configuration wizard. Darragh Daunted but not defeated by the Drudge of daily fighting with enterprise tech to make it do what I want.

database help

Hi. Okay, got a few databases, .mdf. for school projects. Now when I try to create a database in sql management studio, and put in a name, says for example AdventureWorks2014. Says database is empty. Also like for example trying to attatch the Adventure Works 2014, but says it could not be attatched, and does not give me a reason why. Also when I try to then restore the AdventureWorks2014 database. Says it could not be restored, and does not say why. Also when I try to use the import / export wizard should I use the 64. Did try the 64 bit import. But does not bring up the tables, and does not import the database, AdventureWorks2014, and gives no error messages. So any ideas. Do I need to repair sql management studio. Any ideas. And had to install or repair sql management studio 2017 and also sql server 2017, when I upgraded to windows 10 1803 64 bit and using jaws 2018.1085.33 64 bit. So has any one run into this issue. And have the same issues, and yes, tried the t-sql, and would not do that either. Kept giving me an error. free tool to repair corrupted sql management studio databases

Hi. Using windows 10 64 bit pro, and using sql management studio 2017.7 express. 64 bit pro. Now got a whole bunch of databases, and then it messed up when I upgraded to windows 10 1803, and using jaws 2018.1805.33 64 bit pro. Have tried googling. But now cannot add a new database, when I put in the name, and click add, and then okay, keeps saying empty database. Also will not allow me to attach .mdf databases just keeps telling me error, and could not attach. Cannot restore a database, keeps just saying error and the database could not be restored. And also when I try to import, databases. And they are the correct .bak files, does not import. Don't have a credit card and paypal. Did try the built in sql management database tools, but would not work, kept giving me an error. Could not find it, even though did point to the correct databases. So, how to fix and any free, accessible database tools or do I just use visual studio community 2017 32 bit, to attatch the databases, and will that connect to it in sql management studio. Had this issue, since I then upgraded to windows 10 1803 64 bit, when it did not install the whole sql, and so had to repair and then got the latest version. Did try sql management studio 2016, 64 bit, but did not make any difference. Any ideas. To be fair, the BIOS-level tests didn’t reveal any hardware problems when my colleagues at work ran them. However, Microsoft Memory Diagnostics repeatedly report bad pages. After running the Memory Diagnostic again last week, the system appears to have crashed, then rebooted, reporting drive errors that it “fixed” by returning to a restore point when the repair operation failed. I ran Memory Diagnostics again, this time returning the report below in the Windows logs. I plan to install Linux on this machine, possibly in a dual-boot configuration, but I want to identify and detect any hardware issue first. Are there additional tools, preferably screen reader accessible, that I could run either under Linux (e.g., a GRML or Arch installation image written to a USB device) or Microsoft Windows that would help to identify the underlying problem – whether it’s a RAM module, the system board, the SSD, etc.? Any other advice would be appreciated, as I’m not receiving quality diagnosis from the vendor or a third party company that I’ve tried.
