Citrix agile working

Hi all, Here we're moving towards an even more agile working environment than we already had, giving most users chromebooks and working with windows applications through a citrix VDI environment. I've thought about trying the chromebook for a while now but am not sure how I could actually work in the citrix environment. I'm assuming NVDA would work because I think citrix has audio support, my only problem would be audio latency, and possibly an issue over JAWS licencing. I'm the only person who uses it so I got a JAWS professional licence, but we have a great number of VDI session hosts, so I'm not sure if it would get confused. Has anybody had any experience of working this way? Hi all, I am required to set up a windows server 2016 VM for one of the classes I am taking this semester. Has anyone had experience doing this? I cannot get any sound once the OS is loaded. Thanks, Mike

I know when I built the server 2012 R2 and installed jaws everything worked from the get go. I then built a template that support this. Thus in my environment when I spin up new VMs I already have Jaws. You just need to sys prep the machine. Hi you can enable windows-audio service and narrator at the windows setup screen by following procedure. 1. press shift + f10 to run command prompt. 2. enter following command and press enter. net start "windows audio" (make sure you entered quotation properly) 3. enter exit and press enter to escape from command prompt. 4. press windows + control + enter to launch narrator. finally you can setup windows with narrator. Greetings All, I recently got a promotion to a new position at my company. I am the new I.T. Systems Administrator II. We have almost 100 users and are still growing. I have a decent budget to work with and I am considering getting something for managing tickets, installation of software and inventory just to name a few. Also a MDM will be very helpful. Also to add I've built an Active Directory Domain with 3 DC's 1 of which is at a different physical location. I am using GPO to their full potential except Microsoft wants us to move to Windows 10 enterprise to gain the rest of the features. One option I am looking at is Manage Engine. I am primarily a JAWS user so accessibility is of much importance. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks Kindly, Billy

Hi, I belive the computers are connected to the same network with a high speed connection? I also have a delay but that is with some computers are outside of our network which take longer to come up because of the slower connection. you also need to take in mind that nvda needs to copy over the whole profile which is sitting on the network share. so if you have a lot of plugins in there that can take a significant time. I have gotten mine down to around 1-2 mb. i just have the remote plugin and the virtual revision plugin in that profile. NVDARemote connection issue?

Hi Listers, Back again with an NVDA remote query. For those who use it, have you experienced this behavior? So I have my prefered config on a network share, where users run NVDA which loads the config from the share, which in turn points to my computer acting as the server. Sometimes the remote connection is established immediately whilst most of the time I have to wait a few minutes or sometimes even longer. As you can imagine, this is really awkward when helping users. Is there anyway in which I can improve the time it takes to connect? Hi, Last year or so i tried roundcube when they had still a emo somewhere and it was pretty accessible. it had some weird cosmetic bugs but it was useable. Was able to receive and send mail. I tried installing horde once but i failed to do so. Seems this is a little bit more tricky to install. I also had the feeling it had a lot of dependencies you need to install and configure first. Trust relationships

Hi, I am wondering if any of you have encountered this. In my 2012 server environment, windows seven machines seem to lose their trust relationship to the server for some reason which is random. I don't usually discover this until I go to a computer and try to add a new user domain profile when I get the error that the trust relationship is broken. The computer usually works fine connecting to drives and printers on the network even when the trust relationship is broken. I can fix this easily enough by disjoining and rejoining the computer to the domain. I cannot determine the cause of these computers losing their trust relationship. 1. Is there any other way to reestablish the trust relationship without disjoining and rejoining the computer to the domain? Perhaps a method from active directory on the server? 2. Is there any way to scan my network and determine which computers are in this state? Thanks. ###

Slightly off-topic: HTML and XML editing

Just a side question that may be off-topic for the list: a recent discussion related to my work has raised the question of which accessible editors are best for creating and modifying HTML and XML documents extensively. My suggestion would be nxml-mode under Emacs, which, given a schema, supports code completion and validation. However, I'm sure there are other options, and as I'm gathering recommendations for at least one friend/colleague and not merely choosing what to use myself, I would be interested in your suggestions. One of the challenges raised during the conversation that I had was that it can be difficult to read and edit the text with a screen reader when all of the markup is spoken; so the ability to hide the markup temporarily would be useful. Of course, a braille display (which is what I use) would help here, but even with that advantage, the markup can be quite verbose. An option considered in the discussion is to write documents in a simpler markup language such as Markdown, and then convert them, but this isn't ideal - especially if you need fine control over the HTML or XML itself.

Hello Everyone. Recently, I've been thinking more and more of storing some of my data in the cloud. Nothing too confidential, but I would rather sign up with a service that has ease of use similar to dropbox and which is accessible. Has anyone tried services such as sync.com, PCloud, spider oak etc? How did you find their software? How did you find their support? Is there a chance they will take accessibility seriously? box cryptor was a waste of time. Their software is totally inaccessible and their staff don't respond when issues are reported. Surveying a wireless network

Hi all, I'm planning to upgrade my networks at the office and at home to equipment that also supports 5 ghz. I would like to measure the signal strength and network quality on various locations in the building to assess if additional access points will be needed or to see the impact of various channels and channel bandwidth settings. Does anyone know some accessible tools to do so? I would prefer something Windows based, but suggestions for Linux programs are welcome as well. My networks are built with Mikrotik gear and the new equipment will most likely be from Mikrotik aswell. So, if these devices have useful tools to asses network quality, I'm glad to hear about that as well. Best, Bram
