It will work fine with a screen reader, just remember after using the go button or similar, speech may stutter a lot, just leave it be and you'll be fine. In most cases now I use the Windows utilities rather than boot media etc.

Generally I update the BIOS of my machines with windows utilities by the motherboard/machine manufacturer. I have never had an accessibility problem with these utilities.
