Hi: What version of SCCM are you using? The older SCCM 2007 admin console was really easy to use, but the newer consoles (2012 and 2012R2) have become much more difficult to work with. I’m guessing you’re using one of the newer ones, I manage SCCM for a world-wide company and while it is a challenge here are some basic tips. The SCCM application itself is extremely busy, both in functionality and user interface. It just does a ton of things. There are four main views, assets and compliance, application management, monitoring and administration. You can get to each with ctrl+1 through ctrl+4 and it totally changes the tree view and list view contents. Depending on the screen reader you use the list views don’t read very well, this is fixed in the latest and greatest 1602 release of SCCM, my organization is upgrading to that in May. There’s a lot of information on SCCM that’s a little much to go into in one email, I’d highly recommend taking a course or reading a book on SCCM to understand its functions and what it can do, and then just playing around with the console for a while to get a feel of what you are getting into. It is a beast, even for sighted people, and its inaccessibility doesn’t help at all, but it is doable. Hello friends,
I Am a new member to this list. We are using SCCM at work after being a Novell structured organisation for a long time. I Am trying to teach myself the SCCM admin console so that I can check machines, send virus checks and things from the console, is anyone able to comment on accessability of these functions? I Have tried the console but it seems very complicated initialy but to be fair, all new things do really when you are using a screen reader.
