hi Dave, I use JAWS with remote desktop all the time to access my work computer. it works well but i've never tried it with a vm. You have to purchase the remote access from Freedom Scientific and then just make sure that when you install JAWS you configure the remote access under the custom install. you use RDP to establish the connection with the remote computer. If you have JAWS running on the remote machine you'll have to unload it then load it again. JAWS can't run as a service on the remote machine or JAWS won't work well. I leave mine running as a service on the remote machine at work then just unload and launch JAWS when I connect in. The list of keyboard commands for remote access are in JAWS help. if you get it working on a vm please let us know. good luck ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave" <dave.mehler@gmail.com> To: <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Thursday, December 04, 2008 11:03 AM Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] jaws9 and remote desktop
Hello, Is anyone using jaws9 with remote desktop? I just discovered that the ability is available and want to get up to speed with it. I've tried to connect to a virtual machine via remote desktop, but performance was not so good. I had several issues, one of which was that it seemed as if both jaws's host and vm appeared to be active and atempting to speak. Another item was that entering keyboard commands on the remote desktop computer for example the start menu activated the start menu on the host. I also noticed a speech component on the host machine called remote speech, if anyone has all this working i'm interested in knowing the procedure. Thanks. Dave.
