Definitely not just for Windows! As I say, it was only recently when I got into Windows sysadmins topics, and I really want all topics covered in this list!
OK great. I won't post much but sure will appreciate reading what you Windows guys go through. I've been a VAX/VMS person for 27 years, pracitcally since VMS was invented and put onto the market in '79. Also administered a lovely architecture called Wang VS for about six years along the way, but my major thing is VMS. The most excellent thing about VMS from a blind perspective is that absolutely no part of the operating system or administration software is GUI-based--all 100% character-cell-based. There are GUI's for it, all in XWindows (which as we all know is not accessible by anything--yet), but anything you can do in an XWindows interface there is an equivalence in the standard character-cell world. Frankly, it's what's kept me employed in the biz for as long as it has. It's a much maligned and misunderstood operating system, but a most excellent one to maintain and develop for.
That is one reason why I like Linux so much. You can even install the OS with speech, using the remote installation options, or using a Kickstart file. I haven't really used VMS, apart from a short period in 99/00 when I did reports for an Oracle system at the local tech for a part time job whilst studying. I notice you use Agent 4.0, is it better at viewing messages in the list now? I had real issues with anything from version 2.0 up, and for various reasons (mainly as I needed to do it in a job), I switched to using Exchange/Outlook, but still use Agent to view accounts remotely, and for all newsgroups. Thanks. Andrew.
