I know there's an item in the wish list on the Wireshark website relating to accessibility. That's not in the done list so I'm assuming that it's not more accessible in Linux than it is in Windows? There's been some work done in Window Eyes relating to GTK access. Do any of you have any experience of this? Sent by: blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org In my experience, accessibility is always bad / terrible with stuff written in GTK. I know that WireShark is great for filtering, but to be honest, I just use the windows port of tcpdump which is a command line capturing tool and pipe the output to a text file; for small captures, you shouldn't really need to do that much filtering, but this solution isn't really practical for large networks. HI. it uses gtk to draw its windows and while I have tried to script the start capture button with hotspot clicker or whatever it's called., haven't had much luck. I have used tshark which is the command line tool included to do any capture. it uses the same filter structure as tcpdump for linux and the syntax for filter construction is pretty easy to learn.
If anyone else has a better solution and caqn make the gui work, I would be interested in hearing about it too. Brian.

This wireshark stuff is brilliant. I've had a reason to read up on it over the past while however it's accessibility leaves a lot to be desired.
It seems to be using non standard colors or something for menus. When I add them to the custom highlight assignment then sometimes they read reasonably well but it's still not usable.
I know that someone better with Jaws scripting would have a lot more luck very quickly with this and I also know that it would benefit many a blind sys admin so I'm asking if someone would mind trying to make it speak?
