That would be great thanks, but are there any spaces in the code? On 12/27/12, MIKE <mmstopka28@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi,
Can anyone suggest a simple way of monitoring bandwidth used by specific devices on a network? I know that some top end consumer routers support snmp so I could use this in combination with some form of monitoring tool on another box, but mine doesn't so it's not an option. The solution I was thinking of was to turn off dhcp on my router, configure a box with 2 nic cards and bridge them using ics - one that connects to the router with a static and one that runs dhcp and is also connected to the router, there by forcing all the trafic on the network to go through my box. I know that products like ISA can do this, but this is just a home environment so I'm thinking installing something like 2008 to get ISA would be a bit overkill.
We're moving to an ISP where we'll have a limited amount of transfer a month and whilst I don't really want a big brother type environment where I can see exactly what everyones doing, I would like something that I can use for a couple of months so that I can get a rough idea of how much we use and what devices are responsible for the bulk of our usage.
Does anyone have any suggestions? All thoughts are welcome.
Cheers, Ben.
