Hi, Talking of MSI installs, I've found a great program which converts an ordinary install created by any program to an MSI install package. What's more is that you can minnipulate almost everything from files to registry entries. Basicly, it captures the install of a program and then offers to package it in to an msi package after you decide to do customisations etc. It's called Emco MSI builder and comes in a variety of versions. it can be found at: www.emco.is they also have other great applications for deploying applications remotely, Sadly its not free, but just thought of putting this out there in case whoever is willing to go to great length's to make installs unattended and using the MSI way. Your best bet for doing custom, unattended application installations is to use MSI packages with transforms--where supported. Check out
The site is geared to pushing installations but most of the information is applicable for the scenario in question.com
Microsoft, for some reason, has started moving away from using MST style transforms with their own apps; Office 2007, for example, uses XML files for customizing the install process.
