Very true. One thing you cannot do in the CLI is profiling traffic.
Soemthing I always wanted to do, is create a similar tool based upon
Wireshark which was menu driven. Never got the time.

Well, you can apply filtering rules on the command line too, and you can
also monitor the output on the terminal - but, yes, you do need to know (or
look up) the filter syntax.

Very true the Tshark is accessible. But is no where as easy or as feature
rich as the GUI client. AS in the GUI client you can select a stream of data
you are interested and far far more. The TShark CLI you have to learn all
the parameters and really understand the protocols. Thus why most network
engineers use the GUI.

The console version, tshark, is of course highly accessible and useful. I've
used it more than once.
