Dear sir, I AM confirming, that Microsoft Safety Scanner is fully compatible with The windows PE environment. I have tested it with Windows PE based on Windows7, i will try it with PE environment version 1.0 based on Windows XP SP3 Professional edition. The Microsoft Safety Scanner is having excellent GUI adapted for The need of visually impaired users. The necessary information displaied during virus scanning are created by using Static object class name. NVDA is able to even automatically detect The object change on The focus, so You can even hear how many files have been scanned, how many files are infected. While running from live PE, when specifi The quick scan, product will scan The virtual RAM drives with Windows operating files awailable on those RAM drives when running live PE. When specifiing The full scan, program will scan all RAM drives and will continue to scan all system NTFS partitions awailable and all other system partitions. You can specifi The custom and last option is enabling You to specifi The folder. But for security reasons, antivirus will scan whole virtual RAM drives with executable files and will continue with The folder, which You have specified. Very important varning for all users, who would want to try this excellent antivirus, antispyware and anti removal tool. This program like all other antivirus program is allocating many MB of RAM while performing The system scan. So be careful and when using with 512 MB of RAM or less, You can get some memory managment based error messages of Windows core, which will protect You from severe system instability. I will let You know, if this Antivirus will be able to cooperate with older Windows PE version. Using XP PE is allocating much less RAM. You can also determine, how much RAM will be allocated when running Windows7 based PE project by tune whole project, but i will write another article about customizing some projects. In general, i Am recommending You to spare much time to create only very basic live project, which will only contain The most important system files to enable YOu to use sound sub system and NVDA screen reader. Use portable applications, which do not have to be specially integrated to The live PE by adding some services or complex registry settings, You will spare many MB of RAM. It is much more better to have one USB stick full of portable APPS organized to The smart folders structure, so You can use explorer to find The right app. The direct downloads links for Microsoft Safety Scanner are here for You.
