Does anyone have any information about this problem with Jaws? I may be able to bring it to someones attention that could potentially help. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Ryan Shugart Sent: 12 November 2014 15:01 To: Blind sysadmins list Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] Desktop virtualization. Hi Darragh: I would not recommend Hyper-V because there’s no audio passthrough and the only way to get speech in a VM is to launch the VM and then remote desktop into it. That’s doable, but quite inconvenient. Unfortunately, VMWare Workstation is probably still your best bet overall in terms of overall accessibility. The problems you’re experiencing with JAWS is because VMWare Workstation and JAWS are both hooking the keyboard at the same level and causing problems. I’d open a ticket with Freedom about it, but to be honest they aren’t going to care. Ryan

Hello,
What are you using for virtualization on a standard work station these days? What's best for accessibility?
I have problems with VMware workstation when using Jaws. The keys are always passed through to the running copy of Jaws. It wouldn't suit me to unload Jaws on the host every time I'm using a VM.
What's paralells like or are there others out there worth looking at?
I was thinking of Hyper-V but I'm never that impressed with Microsoft's offering. Especially on a single workstation.
I bought this computer to host virtual machines. It's a real waste to have it running one system.
Good power management would be a real pluss. Especially if it could allow the host to conserve power when the VM isn't in use.
Thanks
