Chamandeep, I run the latest version of Vinux on an old Toshiba laptop. I mainly use the laptop for my programming assignments for my Masters classes. The instructor prefers that she can compile and run all programming assignments on her machines so I use the Linux machine. The screen reader used by Vinux is Orca which works fairly well but working under Linux does take some getting used to if you are not familiar with Linux or Unix. As far as which is the better platform, it is a matter of what is preferred or what is needed for the working environment. It is very hard to develop Windows based software in a Linux environment. Through the work I am doing for my Masters, I am learning to work in both the Windows and Linux environments and I have learned to use whatever the assignment dictates for a working environment. I wanted to explore options for how Linux is accessible and what is available? I've never used Linux so any advice on how things work and how to get setup would be appreciated. I would still like to use my windows machine for day to day work. But would like to have Linux either as a separate installation or a virtual machine. Thanks for any help you can give with this.
