I've wanted to think about certification once again, but due to just this problem, I've not thought of it. Needless to say, due to his accent, my entering into it too soon, and my nervousness over the fact that somebody on their end screwed up, I failed the exam by a tiny margin.

I am preparing to take my CISSP exam through Pearson-Vue. I had to do some hunting but this is what I found. Their accomodations request system is a "crock". Working with their tech support was fruitless because they could not or would not tell me why emails sent to my address were not being sent by their system. I do have an accomodations number, it is 800 466 0450 also you will need to complete on of their accomodations request forms and your docotor will need to fill out a form to essentially veriffy what is needed. Once all the forms are filled out you have to wait until they are reviewed and then you will be able to schedule an exam. I am at form completed stage in the process. I haven't sent the forms back to pearson yet.

Hello Folks
I am going through the process of applying to complete the Security Plus creditation with CompTIA.
However, I have been advised by the examination centre that I must first register with Pearson Vue.
They have a process of providing accomodations for folks who need this.
I am experiencing difficulty with this process. 1. They do not appear to have specific accommodation for blind persons. 2. The website doesn't allow me to complete the process of applying for an accommodation. 3. There's nobody to contact about this.
Before I start digging deeper, has anyone out there had similar problems in the past with Pearson Vue, with regards to applying for accomodations.
Regards, Paul
The application must be made through their website.

Folks After several phone calls to the Pearson Vue "un ticketed" help line, complaining that the on line accommadations request web page did not work, I was provided with an email address for the accommadations team These guys were very helpful. I completed the application on an old fashioned application form, and waited ten business days for a determination. Long story short, I applied for 1. separate room 2. reader 3 additional time 4. use of my personal laptop to take notes. I have been allowed 1,2,3 but not 4. The time allowed has been stretched from the standard 90 minutes to 90 minutes +100%= 180 minutes. I have been advised that I can use my reader as a notetaker, as a substitute for using my laptop to take notes, perform computations, organise my thoughts, work out the logic of certain questions etc etc. To be clear I specified that I would only use notepad during the supervised exam and would not use any other applications. Now, I have the option to appeal this decision 1. I have always been able to use my personal laptop, with my favourite screenreader and keyboard for college exams. 2. Communication with a non technical notetaker could easily lead to confusion and errors. 3. Three hours is too long to be expected to hold my concentration. I feel that the terms being offered to me by Pearson are placing me at an unfair disadvantage over my sighted peers. What do you guys think ? Should I appeal ? Kind Regards, Paul
