Hi All, I echo this point. When upgrading from 2012 R2 to 2016, I ran into problems. In a production environment I would have had backups made of the drive img. It is best to place the new servers online and bring them into a domain for example and let them be domain controllers and hand off the FSMO roles and let them take over. Once confirmed that things are working as expected and bring up the functional level, then you can decommission the servers. This allows you to bring the older servers back online to get you back online should you have a major issue. Mount the Server 2016 ISO image, run setup.exe and follow the prompts. You will run into a situation where you'll need to reboot, and when the system comes back up the audio service may not be running, I forget if that setting is preserved. However, assuming it does come up with the audio service running, you can launch Narrator and complete setup. You'll then need to reinstall your primary screen reader, and you're done. Note that while I know it requires sighted assistance, I still think that for a production server its not a good idea to do an in place upgrade as sometimes the installer doesn't do a good job of cleaning up the old operating system. However, if that isn't an option this should work.
