Hi,
Cheers for all that!
That's the thing I think if I'm allowed to use scripts and tools there shouldn't' be really any hassles with me in my role here, and even in-terms of developing my role over time. Allot of things seem to be log directly into Servers through RDP sessions. I had to explain what the Admin Toolkit was.
Spiceworks is lovely! It's a bit of a Swiss Army Knife approach, but the alerts I'm getting from our printers running low on Toner, what Server has been offline and for how long is pretty cool. It has a Helpdesk feature as well, but I've not look too far into it. My Manager doesn't like it because it's not a commercial product, and views it as a moving target. Myself and the Net Admin really like it. I think I'm going to be allowed to use it for Network monitoring. Which my Manager reluctantly has pretty mucha greed to. He's a real good guy, but before I came they purchased PRTG for Networking monitoring. The Net Admin wasn't a fan of it, and it's extreme on the graphics, and doesn't' play nice with JAWS or NVDA.
I got the impression my manager didn't' like that Spiceworks has ads built into it. However, these ads are only shown to the Techs and not the End-users.
Barry.

Hi,
Not really as the licenses are all with the helpdesk guys but when I used it last it was ok if I remember. I never like giving people complete access to mailboxes or servers, so try and find scripts or tools to do this where possible.
I also like the Spiceworks solution you posted earlier - do you use Spiceworks at the moment?
Andrew.

Hi,
Cheers for that. When I was researching this I saw Symprex. Are you using this with JAWS happy enough?
Barry.

Hi,
Yes you need to install the System Manager for 2003. I haven't had experience with this unfortunately.
On a 2007 system I would give myself full mailbox access via the local console installed on my PC, then log in to OWA using my credentials, then change the URL to point to the other user mailbox, then set it in the options. You can't change the out of office directly in the console, but it may be an option in Systems Manager under 2003.
We also have a product to do this for us with the helpdesk called Symprex out of office manager, which can be installed on the server or remotely, which makes this a lot more easier. It could be something like this that they are using.
Do they have any procedures for this type of work?
Thanks.
Andrew.

Hi,
We're running Exchange 2003. The console is for Exchange 2007.
I see there's a Exchange Systems Manager for 2003. Have you used this?
Cheers,
Barry.

Can you install the exchange console locally? That would be the prefered option.
