I have a tiny light probe which doesn't look out of place on my keyring of keys, tools and thumbdrives. Its one of the most usefull things I own and is responsive enough for testing flashing lights on a switch and lodes of other things like that; I really suggest you invest in one. Off the top of my head, I've used it for: Switches and things like that Testing laptop lcd's (Although its a bit hard to tell if there cracked; just if there powering on) Testing to see if desktops are posting Testing little power lights on motherboards to confirm that the board is getting power Testing the lights on the front of cases to make sure that I've connected those dreadfully annoying front panel connectors correctly Like I say, one of the most usefull things I've ever owned and it was actually my mum that saw it and promptly purchased it for me - I have her fairly well trained you see. Dave,
I have something called a light probe that I use to check lights. It cannot tell color but I think it can check flashing.

Dave, Many years ago when I worked on a switchboard, I had a light sensor able to read LEDS; it didn't distinguish colour, but it would be possible to identify a solid light from a flashing light? Let me know if you would like more detail.

Hello, Simple question here, how do user's tell which lights on a hub, or switch are active and their color? Thanks. Dave.
