As far as I know, everything you can do in the graphical interface can also be done at the command line. So it is very accessible. Here's a tip about running a virtual machine in Linux: You can take a screen capture and then run an OCR program on it to read the screen even if sound isn't working. I think almost all virtual environments have screen cap functions. In VirtualBox you get a png image of the screen.
