Hi, This is a huge question and the sysadmin part is only a small part of it really. Everyone uses a different setup depending on their exact needs and eye condition etc. For example I use a screen reader on my local machine which translates text into spoken output which I review with headphones. if I need to RDP into a box I use the standard Windows magnifier program on the remote session. I can use the computer with a magnifier program only but my eyes get very tired, so I use a screen reader for most day to day activities and then use my vision when I really need to RDP into a machine. i try and engineer the systems so I only need to RDP in if something goes very wrong, prefering remote consoles or these days using PowerShell etc. For better magnification there are programs like ZoomText available. in terms of monitor size I don't like really large monitors as my eye condition means I only have a small part of vision in my right eye, and if I have a large screen I have to move my head a lot. However this is different for everyone so experimentation is the key here. If you use ZoomText it won't be easy to get that working fully on the RDP session though will give you limited access (you will lose focused tracking etc, but it still magnifies the screen). Hope this gives you some ideas, Andrew. ________________________________________ From: Bekki . I was wondering if anyone could share helpful info about setting up a workspace specifically for low vision users (with central vision loss), best software to use, any particular glasses or other solutions that may help. Particularly with day to day tasks such as having to RDP into and maintain remote servers, reading + answering emails, etc. Curious also - has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with using the Microsoft HoloLens or Samsung Odyssey as far as aiding with vision and working on remote systems, etc? Thanks! _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list -- blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org To unsubscribe send an email to blind-sysadmins-leave@lists.hodgsonfamily.org
