I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for an Android device that is similar to the iPod Touch. How accessible is Android these days? I'm not too worried about getting used to a new operating system. But as a long time IOS user, am I going to be disappointed with the accessibility of Android?
I haven't had any recent Android experience. It seems to me that the question is whether the applications you plan to use are sufficiently accessible with TalkBack (even if other aspects aren't). If you intend to use a braille device with this system at all, then BRLTTY for Android (now available from the Google Play Store as well as from the BRLTTY Web site) appears to be the most mature solution on offer. Based on what I've read, iOS seems to be a better designed operating system over-all. However, Google's Fuchsia project is an interesting development - and it already has an accessibility API, even at this early stage of its evolution.
