Hello Andrew, I've not heard of these c-media devices before. You said that you get sound earlier in the install process, how early on are you able to get speech? I've tried some USB sound devices, and like you've said, many of them require drivers and don't work too well without configuration. I tried to use a wireless usb device to work on systems that already had Windows running on them with JAWS or System access on a usb drive for sound. The wireless device would give me sound on some machines, but on others Windows wouldn't recognize the device. Thanks for your information, this is an interesting discussion.
