Hi, Yep, Kali is developed by the same people and it is a replacement to Backtrack. Do you know if Kali Linux has the same set of tools that Backtrack Linux does? Kali is based on Debian, if it uses the stock Debian kernel it should have Speakup as well - enable at the boot prompt. Orca will work very well in Gnome and to a large extent in the gnome terminal as well. For a lot of console work, i recommend speakup. Your best bet would be to get a distribution that has speakup already compiled into the kernel. That's still a tricky business. I have been working with Linux via PuTTY for over a year now. I don't remember when I actually used Gnome last. How are they getting on with the Orca project? I realise I'm asking a question on another persons thread here so feel free to provide a kicking as necessary. and / or respond off list if you prefer. I've used it on quite a few different platforms over the years; I think theres even an iOs port for those of us who are jailbroken. Cheers, Ben. On 4/15/13, John G. Heim <jheim@math.wisc.edu> wrote:
Orca is the screen reader for the linux graphical user interface. It works pretty well. It's pretty much all I ever use. I sometimes still use voiceover but I do 99% of my work with orca.

Hello,
I will be taking a computer security class in the fall. I am trying to do some research for the class and have come up with a couple of things that could present problems. They are nmap, Backtrack Linux and Orca. Does any one have experience with any of the above software packages?
