The ability to reinstall Windows on any system, like you can on a Mac, is also a highly desireable feature from my own perspective. One will not always have access to the tools and resources such as an automated install especially if you are out in the field or in some other unusual circumstance outside of your element, planned or not. Until one of these screen readers enables me to take a copy of windows out of the box, install it and do it with built in features just like I can other operating systems then it doesn't matter. Sure there may be all sorts of work arounds for a blind admin to deal with installation and administration of windows but really until the screen reader is an integral part of the OS and just another service I can enable if I want at install time I'm not interested and will go with a platform where I'm able to do this today. Bolt on screen readers are just that, bolt on after thoughts. On Jan 13, 2015, at 1:42 PM, vic.pereira@ssc-spc.gc.ca wrote:
This is pure speculation on my part, but Microsoft appears to be very close since the agreement in place to have a free version of Window-Eyes with a valid installation of MS Office. I believe Microsoft did this when they included an anti-virus solution with their OS, they just obtained it from a company that already had one in place.
