Hi, I am not a Citrix guy, but have had dealings with ZenApp as some of our users use it indirectly to access a financial system off-site. I always thought of ZenApp as an application publisher, similar to that provided by Terminal Services for applications. This is where the user runs an app on their desktop (which may be provided by a thin client as well), and the app actually runs on a remote server through another session. The key points here is what your job role is in relation to the system, the various components you need to access (i.e., are Citrix accounts in AD, so unlocking users could be as easy as installing remote admin tools on the workstation), and what servers this impacts. A few scenarios: - If required to unlock AD accounts, you can do this through AD remote admin tools on your workstation, no additional software required on the server etc. - Investigate what remote Citrix consoles are available for the thin client portion of the system, avoid logging into the Citrix server directly (best practise anyway?) - If required to connect to ICA session directly on either the ZenApp box or the think client machine, JFW needs installing on that system directly. - Following other users is going to be problematic, because they will need to start JFW so you can see what is going on, and they are likely to be using the mouse to move round the system, so you won't follow the keystrokes etc. I have to do this for my job, and to be honest it is more of a paperwork exercise rather than actually me gaining anything from the practise. It seems what our end users are using is a thing called Zenapp to access their work pc's. So they connect to our 2K3 Server, then to Citrix and use the Zenapp, which is a Citrix app. He thinks I should be able to log in as them and use the Citrix console. However, he doubts that I will be able to shadow the end-users with JAWS, because it's 2 hops. This isn't essential as he's explained providing I can access the Citrix Console, to unlock user accounts and log in as them with them logged out we should be all good. Have any of you got experience of this environment, both good and bad in-terms of using either JAWS or Window Eyes. Regards, Barry. I've sent him a further email asking him to detail our Citrix infrastructure. Here's what he's told me so far. Does this mean I wont' be able to RDP Live intot he end-users sessions, but can acces the servers through RDP? "I can't see you running this through Citrix the ICA session (i.e. using the Citrix published desktop that users get), though we do meet the Citrix Requirements anyway as we use Citrix XenApp. It will be for using RDP to access servers (including the Citrix Servers) which are all 2003. Cheers, Barry.
