Thanks for all the help. I will work on this information and also I will pass this on to the instructor for the class when I do my early meet and greet with them. Orca will work very well in Gnome and to a large extent in the gnome terminal as well. For a lot of console work, i recommend speakup. Your best bet would be to get a distribution that has speakup already compiled into the kernel. That's still a tricky business. I have been working with Linux via PuTTY for over a year now. I don't remember when I actually used Gnome last. How are they getting on with the Orca project? I realise I'm asking a question on another persons thread here so feel free to provide a kicking as necessary. and / or respond off list if you prefer. I've used it on quite a few different platforms over the years; I think theres even an iOs port for those of us who are jailbroken. Cheers, Ben. On 4/15/13, John G. Heim <jheim@math.wisc.edu> wrote:
Orca is the screen reader for the linux graphical user interface. It works pretty well. It's pretty much all I ever use. I sometimes still use voiceover but I do 99% of my work with orca.

Hello,
I will be taking a computer security class in the fall. I am trying to do some research for the class and have come up with a couple of things that could present problems. They are nmap, Backtrack Linux and Orca. Does any one have experience with any of the above software packages?
