Are you really, REALLY sure you must to upgrade to Server 2016? We have it here, and so far I see it as another HUGE mistake on my part. At one point, I had to contact MS Server Support since I was unable to change settings advised by its Best Practices Analyser (BPA). After over a week of communications with Delhi, they (that is Microsoft) had to remotely replace the Lanman part of the Registry. I discovered this had become a known and nasty bug accounting for around 75% of the content of BPA. Don't expect miracles from BPA either. It is another disaster area where you see an error or a warning, and in 80+% of these, the "More information about..." takes you to an old web page dated 2011!!, which as good as says, "We've not written about that problem yet!". And the remainder take you to pages which contain no mention of Server 2016, but rather Server 2012. All too often things have changed, so they are as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Do NOT believe the rubbish about being the same - they do differ, especially in the User Interface details. I am also decidedly [expletive deleted] about being told that various errors which turn up in the Event Logs can be ignored. If it is an error, it is an error - PERIOD! Another annoyance is Server Manager allows certain Roles to be installed, and then when you go to configure them, you are told you need to have another server. What don't they tell you that FIRST, before you install the role? If you absolutely insist on upgrading, do try to at least make contact with other Server 2016 users, if only to have another shoulder to cry on. All I can say is, "Thank goodness we have a pre-paid support contract which gives us 10 incidents". Microsoft have some serious work to do yet, and sadly it does not appear to be happening quickly.
