Hi Darragh: The new system center UI uses UIA to provide information to access technologies, not MSAA as most programs have done until now. Most major screen readers support UIA, but there haven't been a lot of programs using it as heavily as the system center UI does so I think this is kind of new territory. Its also difficult to say where the screen reader is at fault and where the application is at fault. My company has already implemented one of SCCM's syster applications, System Center Service Manager. It already uses the new UI, or something close to it, so the problem has already come up. My company has inlisted GW-Micro to write some scripts for the application, and it sounds like that's teaching a lot on both sides of the aisle. How much will apply when SCCM comes into play I don't know, and certainly engadging someone to write scripts for that application will pose its own challenges since I don't even have a clue how it works right now. One of my coworkers suggested that I get in touch with our Microsoft TAM. This is the first company I've worked for with a TAM, but the claim is these are pretty powerful representatives, and if a product team hears a concern coming from a TAM and not just an end user, that kind of bumps things up the scale a little. Does your company have a Microsoft TAM? Perhaps as two blind system center users, if we go this route, both of us engadging our TAMs at the same time might help push the issue. Technically the products aren't too bad, but at the time the documentation and support resources could have used a really good proof reader. I've heard good things about the Kase solution, out of all the products I've heard about its still the one that's the closest to SCCM. An interesting note though, Dell themselves don't use it, they use SCCM accept in testing labs for Kase. My biggest gripes with SCCM 2007 are the client health issues. It's a paine to keep the clients all happy, and I've all but given up on that. SCCM 2012 will be a lot better with that, or so I hear. Also, when you tell SCCM to do something, its hard to get exact as to when it will happen. I can get a good idea, but I can't tell someone this software will push to your machine at this exact time, that's just not how SCCM is designed. Still, the MMC interface was reasonably accessible, and accessibility aside I'd like to play with SCCM 2012. Accessibility not aside it concerns me a little. The release date is getting ever closer, and there's a few features in SCCM 2012 in particular I'd be interested in taking advantage of, but so far I've not gotten the install to work accessibly even, so I have no way to set this up in a test lab. Has anyone else taken a look at this yet, and does anyone have any tips? When do you plan to start investigating an upgrade? Thanks.
