Hi, Try Vinux, if you can get the Ubuntu version it may be better although version 2.x on Debian should work. It will let you mount the disks and get the information off onto a USB drive. It's not under any kind of waranty and a memtest shows it's ram is good, yet even booting windows in safe mode is producing a blue screen stop message 0xc2 message. A reinstall seems the best option. I'm planning on downloading dell drivers for this machine and creating an unattended xp installation disk, my problem is one of backup. This box has two Sata hard disks in it, that i'm not sure how much has been backed up, so before i can reinstall i have to back them up. I'm wondering an accessible solution for this, but also one that i can expand with the necessary sata controller drivers, i'm assuming they're intel of some variety. Thanks. Dave. _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list Blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org http://lists.hodgsonfamily.org/mailman/listinfo/blind-sysadmins -- allpay achieved PCI DSS and ISO 27001 certification in 2008 Registered in England No. 02933191.
