Hi, That didn't work. It is stating that is for navigating a table. I can make it go full screen and back but no joy on the menu. The enhanced session setting works! I wish I had discovered that sooner. Only problem is I can't figure out how to get to the menu or exit out of the session.
Thanks,

Another possibility in a pinch, besides Seeing AI, is using the screen shot feature of your virtualization program and then running an OCR program on it.
I only know how to do this in VMWare for Linux but I am pretty sure VMware for Windows works the same and other virtualization solutions also have screenshot functions. In VMWare for linux, to take a screen shot and save it to a PNG file, you do this:
vboxmanage controlvm $VMNAME screenshotpng $PNGFILE
where $VMNAME is the name of the virtual machine and $PNGFILE is the output file name.
That is correct. If you use something like Seeing AI you could figure it out when it gets there which is what I have had to do in a pinch. You can set the password the unattend.xml file which should automatically get you to the desktop.
Best,
Billy

I'm connected to Hyper-V manager from my windows 10 workstation. From what I've gathered experimenting with sighted assistance, on the first boot it asks you to set the admin password, and then to login. At that point after a few minutes of waiting for the profile to be set up, you should be on the desktop.

Hi.
Are you doing this with a server side HyperV or ESXI host? My issue with these was its harder to get USB redirection working to the client you're using to install the OS. If you install it on the workstation either HyperV or VmWare it seems to work. Thanks for letting me know that we have the Narrator install option on the server OS.
In terms of getting speech up after the server first comes up is there much of an out of box experience these days or are you just asked for the admin password and then logged in as admin? I used to be able to get past the first boot on Server 2008 R2.
Andrew.

Hi All,
You can install Windows Server 216 - 2022 just like a client with speech all the way through. Once you get to the reboot and login, it will not work because the Windows Audio Service doesn't start automatically. I wish there was a way to do this via Hyper-V as my entire virtualization cluster here at work is Hyper-V. The unattended install works great but same applies with Windows Audio Service. I tried to mitigate this by doing the OOBE and having RDP enabled with a preinstall of JAWS for example with no success. I hate asking for sighted assistance through this process.
Thanks Kindly,

Hi, My only experience with setting up server 22 has been as a guest in vmware on a windows 10 host and I got speech all the way through with a USB soundcard connected to the virtual USB controller of the guest. Thanks, Kieran.

Hi.
Last time I checked I think the only option for Server OS is to use the unattended install method. Its been so long since I did a fresh server install I can't remember the specifics of this anymore. I don't think you can use Narrator from the setup CD like you can for the client versions. Would love to be proved wrong.
Even if you could do this for the bear metal install with a USB soundcard it probably wouldn't work for the guest installs.
Andrew.

Hi all, I've been tasked with setting up our new Hyper-V host. The host runs Server 22, as will the VM's. Is there a way to install Server 2022 on VM's with speech? Currently I've only been able to get speech working once the OS is already installed and running.
