I am also running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit. I just installed VMWare Server 2.0.2 and created a new VM. I started it with the Ubuntu 14 desktop DVD ISO that I downloaded today. I wasn't able to add a sound adapter to the VM through the web interface, so I found an old config and got these lines: sound.present = "TRUE" sound.fileName = "-1" sound.autodetect = "TRUE" sound.pciSlotNumber = "36" I had to change the PCI slot number according to the config of the new VM. Once these lines were added to the .vmx file for the VM, sound started working. I had to be careful to update the .vmx file while the VM was completely shut down. VMWare sometimes writes to the config file and can overwrite changes. On 06/13/2014 9:23 AM, David Mehler wrote:
Hello,
I am still trying to get Ubuntu 14.04 lts desktop working in a VMware 9 or 10 virtual machine. Visually I've had a look and it's saying install Ubuntu or try Ubuntu. I am not getting audio when I attempt to launch orca.
Does anyone have a vm or virtual appliance with audio going or an idea as to why this is not working?
Thanks. Dave.
