Any Synology product that uses their DiskStation Manager (DSM) software is usable if not totally and easily accessible. There are some oddball controls and the way DSM displays some things that open after a button is pressed leave a little to be desired, but by and large, it's a very workable and usable system. I have a DS1815+ here, and am thinking of getting a second one probably next year. I could, of course, spend that same money and increase the disk sizes in my current rig, but I have this thing about disks larger than 3TB using a different physical architecture that squeezes more platters into the same form factor disk case, not to mention putting more sectors/cylinders on each platter, all in the name of increased storage at the expense of lower physical tolerances. Hi all, I plan to get myself a NAS. I am thinking of the Synology DS216J. What do you think?
We have QNAP NASs in the office which are unfortunately not very accessible with their Web GUI. We also have 2 old Buffalo DiskStations which still work though they are very old. their interface is also pretty accessible.
I pretty like Synology's interface which you can also check out online: https://www.synology.com/en-us/dsm/live_demo
Great when you can have a look at interfaces.
