[Blind-sysadmins] Low Vision SysAdmin Setup

Hi - My Dad is a sysadmin and recently diagnosed with macular degeneration. I was wondering if anyone could share helpful info about setting up a workspace specifically for low vision users (with central vision loss), best software to use, any particular glasses or other solutions that may help. Particularly with day to day tasks such as having to RDP into and maintain remote servers, reading + answering emails, etc. Curious also - has anyone had any experiences, good or bad, with using the Microsoft HoloLens or Samsung Odyssey as far as aiding with vision and working on remote systems, etc?
