Hi, Essencially yes, however, it is very difficult to get anything from these companies unless you have a very good solicitor. We had a really good test case with a test centre last year, where a blind woman did not get the support she needed, and she got her case through and supported by the DRC. However, a major part of the DRC has now gone bust and absorbed by another government department, and the only help they gave me in this matter was to send me a list of solicitors who may be able to help, all of which wouldn't take on the case because they had a full case book, or they didn't feel it was worth it as there was already a test case out there. I wonder whether it may be a good idea to try to take the exam at a centre who uses Prometric? I know the local test centre I use does use Prometric for the Microsoft exams, but they definitely use Pierson Vue for the Cisco exams. Don't some of your laws over there have a bit more teeth than ours on some of this accessibility stuff? :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Hodgson" <andrew@hodgsonfamily.org> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, April 11, 2008 9:33 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] MCSA exams Hi, Was your CCNA with Prometric? Mine was with Pierson Vue, the only accessability they provided was a form for claiming extra time and a reader. I had to provide the reader myself. I spent countless times on the phone with Pierson Vue, and sent them several emails. I had several promises to be contacted later, none of which materialised. I was only a few marks short for passing the exam for each time I took it! I believe you're in the U.K., so things may be different, but, here, Prometric provides the reader, and you may in some cases be able to get a free retake of the same exam at a later date if you can show you failed for accessibility reasons. I thought that might be necessary for CCNA because of those diagrams, but it turned out that I passed with a good score regardless. As with anything else, you might find out that you can get a lot more accessibility than you might expect if you're willing to ask good questions and self-advocate. :-) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Hodgson" <andrew@hodgsonfamily.org> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, April 11, 2008 9:20 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] MCSA exams Hi, Nearly every question in the exam was diagrams. It didn't help that I had to get my own reader, and they weren't that fimilar with Cisco symbols in the diagrams either. I did the exam 3 times before giving up in disgust. :-) Thanks. I passed mine and only recall a couple of diagrams. One of those was just connectors, which I fortunately did study ahead of the exam. :) ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Hodgson" <andrew@hodgsonfamily.org> To: "Blind sysadmins list" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Friday, April 11, 2008 9:14 AM Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] MCSA exams Hi, I suspect you would need to get a reader, as the exam machines are seriously locked down, and I don't know the state of them anyway using Jaws. Let me know how you got on - the CCNA exams weren't brilliant due to the diagrams involved, I suspect the MS exams may be slightly easier due to the nature of the beast. Thanks. The MS certification exams are now given by a company called Prometrix. Is anyone familiar withthem and is it possible to take the exams in accessible format?
