I gave a talk about snmp and nagios to the local linux user's group a few years ago. Here is a link to the web page I used for the talk: http://www.math.wisc.edu/~jheim/snmp/ I think the main problem getting started with nagios is that there doesn't seem to be a way to do a very, very basic set up just to get started. If you install nagios3 from the debian package, it will put 5 or 6 "generic" configuration files in /etc/nagios3/conf.d. You probably have to make your own versions of each of those just to get started. The syntax isn't hard to learn but like almost everything in linux, it's almost like a little programming language. We use nagious to monitor just about everything around here. Since the plugins can be written in any language, you can do just about anything you can think of with nagios. I have it configured to call my cell phone if something really bad happens. On 11/18/13 11:28, Darragh Ó Héiligh wrote:
Hello,
I want to learn a lot more about Nageos.
Would you have any good places to start from? Or, is there anything that you did while learning about it that you recommend that I don't do?
Thanks
