I am moving into a new home, and as part of the process tossed out my relyable but old Airport Extreme router that I’ve had for the past few years and am looking for something new. Was wondering if there were recommendations on good, accessible routers that would be worth looking into?
Another option that has worked well for me in recent years is an OpenWRT-based router. It provides both a Web interface that was reasonably accessible when I last used it, and Linux shell access via ssh. I would suggest checking the openwrt.org Web site for current hardware compatibility details in deciding what to buy, should you take this path. Mine is a very old and outdated Linksys WRT1900AC device that will be upgraded sooner or later. I simply don't have a strong reason to upgrade yet. Nor have I decided whether to use OpenWRT next time, or to try an alternative.
