Hi, We use the Sitehelpdesk suite, which contains HSI Monitor, which allows for this: http://www.sitehelpdesk.com/inventory/software.htm I am not the primary user of this however. It runs agents which are installed via login scripts on the workstations, the agents then report the software back to the server, and the guys can do inventories of who has Office etc installed, which is used for licensing etc. Hope this helps. It looks like a fairly complete program. I should have been more explicit however. I am looking for a pc inventory program which would scan the entire network and create a database of all pcs on the network, even those on other subnets that are connected via hardware VPN routers. We tried one called INventory, but it is pretty much inaccessible using jfw, windoweyes and system access.
Hello Phil,
It depends on what is meant by "PC inventory" software. You may want to check out Belarc Advisor: http://belarc.com/free_download.html
It presents system information in an accessible browser based format.
