I am an Unix systems analyst. And, depend on a good ssh client for my work. I used teraterm for years and years quite successfully. The move from XP and earlier versions of jaws to windows 7 and jaws 12,13 was difficult. I was required to find a completely new solution. I settled on VanDyke Software SecureCRT. It is not free; but, is definitely worth the money. There are some jaws scripts available. Google will find them for you. SecureCRT works very well with curses applications such as vi lynx ... There is a setting that tells SecureCRT to use a jaws compatible cursor. I have noticed that sometimes I have to minimize all applications in order to review the screen. I would really like to use my Mac because ssh is part of the OS. The problem with the mac is the speech output in a terminal window. It doesn't work well at all. Voice Over skips reading lines of text as they scrole. Also, I heard that Kermit is now open source. Might be worth looking at. I've been using openssh for Windows for years and it has served me well except for a couple of things. There has always been a problem in that jaws speaks the keys as you enter your password. Anybody nearby can hear your password. A problem with jaws 13 is that as you type something at the command prompt after connecting, jaws reads the entire line with each keystroke. Older versions of jaws didn't do that. There is probably some way to fix it but I don't know enough about jaws scripting to know. I tried putty but the jaws scripts I've found won't compile. I'm guessing they're not compatible with jaws 13. Any other suggestions? I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list Blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org http://lists.hodgsonfamily.org/listinfo/blind-sysadmins
