Dear List: Being a former IT Specialist with the Department of Veteran's Affairs, it literally took an act of the Congress sometimes to implement 508 Solutions. The agencies would state the importance to Citrix access but the implementation took years to put into place from FS and GW Micro to help our employees who were visually impaired who needed remote access. The agencies I worked for never wanted to the first to breach security policy with the Screen Readers Requirements. So I agree with Darrell, if a corporation would implement a solution once the security issues are solved that go for it. Out side corporations here in the USA are more open to this types of solutions then government agencies in my experience. Just my 2 cents based on my corporate and federal experience. If remote access is a requirement for the job, and a solution exists, it would seem this would be considered a "reasonable accomodation" assuming any and all corporate security issues can be addressed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andrew Hodgson" <Andrew.Hodgson@allpay.net> To: "blind-sysadmins" <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: Monday, March 17, 2008 7:10 AM Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] RIM (was Just joined today) Hi guys, Is anyone here using RIM in a corporate environment on a corporate network? The reason I ask is because I would be worried about spending this amount of money on such a product, if I had never heard of the manufacturer before in that space. For example, I know that Citrix is a leader in remote management and desktop sharing. However, other than in software for the blind, I have not heard of Serotek advertising widely in this space. Until this happens, I am concerned that people will not want to adopt this solution. Discuss. RDP through Windows works great for me. You don't need extra licenses to load Window-eyes on a computer that you want to connect to. I've even logged into a server from home and then into various work stations. I still get pretty good connection using rdp from computer to computer to computer. I am happy to have stumbled across this list. I am looking for accessible remote control software. I don't have the ability to install Jaws on every computer I touch, so any help would be appreciated. I used Jaws and Window eyes for access.
Thanks in advance,
Greg Bobo
