Moderation is also a big question. I'm sure many of us got into IT because we don't like dealing with people. Resolving conflicts isn't exactly my specialty. But good moderation can make or break a community.
Perhaps having a few volunteer moderators at the outset to spread the workload would help to solve that problem. I can't make a commitment at the moment.
