Hi, Thanks for the info re upload image option on Linode. Its there on Digital Ocean as well. I used it in the past because on my current VPS I didn't like the old Debian images, maybe the Linode/Gandi/Digital Ocean Debian images are small enough for me to just use those and save me the bother. I have done a custom image on Linode in the past using the rescue environment and writing the ISO to a temporary disk. I think the upload option is fairly new. Thanks. Andrew. -----Original Message----- From: Jason White via Blind-sysadmins <blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org> Sent: 06 September 2021 23:58 To: blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org Cc: Jason White <jason@jasonjgw.net> Subject: [Blind-sysadmins] Re: advice wanted: Reliable budget VPS providers? - Mozilla Thunderbird Andrew Hodgson <andrew@hodgson.io> wrote:

Linode allow you to upload your own file system image, which could be an alternative. I suppose another option would be to boot into their rescue environment and run Debootstrap to install a custom Debian system.
Gandi would be my other option as I have a lot with them and they have solid hosting options. I especially like their web hosting which runs on containers and is a good middle ground between VPS and managed web hosting.
I've used their domain registration service, but not their hosting services. For domain registration, they have been reliable. I manage my own DNS, so I don't rely on Gandi for that aspect. _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list -- blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org To unsubscribe send an email to blind-sysadmins-leave@lists.hodgsonfamily.org
