Hi Andrew, Yes I did that. The only way I could actually confirm the password was changed was by setting it to change on log in, as when I reset it without this the password change didn't take place at all and I couldn't log in on the web with the supposed reset. But I did it through the web and changed it first time but Outlook still is saying no, despite the password working for logging in through the web. BTW. I've tried this on two different machines, one with Win 7, Outlook 2007, and one Windows 10 Outlook 2010. Cheers, Barry. -----Original Message----- From: Blind-sysadmins [mailto:blind-sysadmins-bounces@lists.hodgsonfamily.org] On Behalf Of Andrew Hodgson Sent: 19 November 2016 12:15 To: Blind sysadmins list Subject: Re: [Blind-sysadmins] Office 365 user account not liking password reset, Outlook Hi, Silly question, did you set the password so that it didn't need to be changed on login? By default the password needs to be changed next time the user logs in, and Outlook doesn't handle that, you need to do it from the website. There is I believe a tickbox to stop this behaviour when resetting the password. I've an Office 365 Exchange account, with two users. One Admin and one standard user. I've been trying to reset the standard user password and it appears to go through but... When I try and set the user up in Outlook I keep getting prompted for the password. This is on a brand new build of Windows and Office. I've made sure there's no profile there already or email account, I've checked app data\local\microsoft\outlook and made sure it's empty. At first I was just using the IOS Office 365 Admin app to reset the password as this has always worked for me but I noticed that resetting the password there didn't allow me to sign in with the user account on the web let alone in Outlook. The only way I seemed to be able to reset the password was by having the user change it upon the next log on which worked and they can get into their account on the web. However, Outlook is not accepting the password. On the new email wizard it's getting up to log-on to server, then popping up the dialog box with username and password and the exact same password that will log the user onto their account on the web keeps getting rejected. Any thoughts or any pointers for contacting the appropriate department in Microsoft, (who are really a mine field at this point), would be very much appreciated. Cheers all, Barry. _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list Blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org https://lists.hodgsonfamily.org/listinfo/blind-sysadmins _______________________________________________ Blind-sysadmins mailing list Blind-sysadmins@lists.hodgsonfamily.org https://lists.hodgsonfamily.org/listinfo/blind-sysadmins ----- No virus found in this message.
