Have you tried installing Windows 8.1 X64 using Bryans disk? This is why there are multiple versions that people use. FYI, I find Bryans the most reliable but on some newer systems it just doesn't boot. Cheers, Ben. On 12/30/14, John G Heim <jheim@math.wisc.edu> wrote:
Well, for one thing, www.iavit.org isn't going to just disappear. It doesn't depend on any one person to keep it going.

Oh my...
Why reinvent the weal? All packages already hosted on Brians website.

V2 works awesome, just tested. No need to reassemble the ISO file. Burned with Nero 2015, rebooted my PC, and there it is, booted to Win PE with NVDA and some tools on the desktop.
Amazing work done by Brian.

We can host it on iavit.org. So far the company that is donating space for iavit.org hasn't griped about our bandwidth use.
I sure wish someone would take ownership of this little part of the task of helping blind sys admins. We need someone to volunteer to maintain the images and write some documentation. I'd give you a login on iavit.org for the purpose.

Meh. Slow upload & my VPS doesn't really have the bandwidth to cope with potentially thousands of people downloading a 500+MB file. Happy to upload to you if you'd like.

Is there some reason why we don't just put up images with the fix already done?

John,
Essentially, the ISO file that was created isn't bootable so a few things need to be done to make it work.
1. Extract the contents of the ISO using something like 7ZIP, Winrar, Winzip ETC. 2. Follow this http://forum.imgburn.com/index.php?/topic/11194-how-to-create-a-wind ows-vista-7-8-installation-disc-bootable-using-imgburn/ guide. Where there are different options depending on the version of Windows that you are dealing with choose the Windows 8 option. The end product should be a bootable iso or a bootable DVD.
I know these aren't the best instructions ever but for the sort of people who will be reading them they should be enough to get you bootstrapped.
Cheers, Ben.

If anybody wants to write up a howto for those downloads, let me know and I'll give you access. I can't do it. I don't know anything about Windows. I don't even know how to burn an ISO.
