Personally, I think everything went straight to hell when we migrated from 8
bit.;)
It's all about the 6502!

Hi,
That would be a significant u-turn if they did this. All the testing/beta
versions were 64-bit only, and MS has really been pushing 64-bit stuff now
for quite some time.
The original 2008 server is both 32-bit and 64-bit (you install whichever
version is right for your environment). I have never used the 32-bit
edition of 2008 server however.
Andrew.

Perhaps they've recently released a 32 bit R2 version?
It's a graphic, so may not read, but the heading at the top definitely
says "Windows Server 2008 R2" at the following URL:
Windows Server 2008 System Requirements

Thanks.

does it require a 64 bit even for the 32 bit version?
a company I work with has a volume license and has available to them
the 32
bit and 64 bit version of server 2008 on CD. however they have not
chosen to
upgrade as ISA server is not available for them on a server 2008
version.

Hi,
Server 2008 R2 requires a 64-bit machine. It uses the Vista type
installer.
I downloaded the ISO but that is as far as I got.
Thanks.
Andrew.

Hi,
What kind of a machine is needed for 2008 server and can the
OS do
an unattended install? I'd like to start working with it, but am
completely
unfamiliar with it.

So out of curiosity, has any one here played with Windows Server 2008
R2?
I've been messing with it for a few days now. One odd issue I'm
seeing is
if I RDP into a Windows Server 2008 R2 machine and run a screen
reader, the
visual display freezes, and nothing goes into the screen reader's
offscreen
model, but otherwise the screen reader runs. In this case I'm using
Window-Eyes 7.1. Out of curiosity is anyone else seeing this with any
screen reader?
Thanks.
Ryan
