Hey John, you could have your dog pull the sled.;) The funny thing is this reminds me of a Big Bang Theory episode where Sheldon, Leonard and Howard go up to the North Pole on a research project.

The job description says some travel to the South Pole may be necessary. Can I bring my guide dog?
I'm the one who posted the job notice to talk@iavit.org. I work at the Math Department at the University Of Wisconsin. The physics building is just the next building. If I was 10 years younger, I might apply for that job myself. I think they may be having trouble finding qualified applicants for this job. They have either hired several people over the past few months or they reposted the same job 3 times. I suspect that they didn't find anybody they like the first 2 times. By the way, the salary mentioned in that notice is the minimum. They don't really expect to get anybody for that.
The job market is really hot here in Madison right now. I imagine this is true in a lot of cities with a lot of high-tech businesses. I just had lunch a few weeks ago with a guy who said his company is offering comp sci grads $80K because that's what the market demands. That'll help you pay off your loans pretty fast.

This does sound like a interesting project. I love the cutting edge physics stuff. I think it would be amazing to work on the networks of CERN for example.

FYI, in case anyone is interested.

The Icecube Project, which is an international group of physicis trying to capture neutrinos is looking for a linux systems admin. The job is at the University Of Wisconsin-Madison. I'm at the Math Department there. Generally, working for a university is a great thing for a disabled person. And the University Of Wisconsin is one of the best in terms of it's commitment to diversity. https://wipac.wisc.edu/careers/linux-system-administrator
